Hi

Thanks to Fuzzy and Byron my dear friend.
I donated 3 times last year (before the green Star).
I dont have much money because of my three boys.
What i don´t understand is that no small or big company could donate some hardware what is needed.
It would be no big deal for them and really apreciated.

kindest regards
Mike

Edit: If you found an typo error buy it.

hmm,,
As I scroll through the board, I notice some stars, but I notice a lot more without stars. Then I remember what I was taught many years ago by my grandfather. He told me that only the cream rises to the top, that this is true in all things in life. That most of the people will go along and expect things for free all their life. It is not their fault, but the fault of their teachers in life. But the cream, the cream will always rise to the top, it will always give more than the rest. You see, you can drink the milk, but the cream, well it is made into many things, it gives much more than just the milk.

So here is my 2 cents, for all you beer drinkers, take the money from a simple case of beer you would have bought this month, and send it to SETI.

For all you smokers out there, take what you would have spent on 2 packs of cigs. Send that to SETI instead, double benefit there, helps the needed, and your health.

And for all the Soda drinkers out there, take the money from 2, 12 packs and send it to SETI, be less sugar in your diet, and less calories.

See we all can make excuses for why we so called cant give, but when it comes down to it, its all about the cream.

Basically, a donation processing facility on campus takes care of all the bureaucratic stuff and they take a small cut to do so, which is fair. I'm not sure if it's a legal obligation, but trying to pry open any university bureaucracy to fix one or two things takes several years and generally isn't worth it. Sorry about the excess letters, but even without them we probably wouldn't save any money as they'd take their same cut off the top anyway.

In case you haven't noticed, we just announced our first annual funding drive on the home page. E-mails are going out as I speak. I've been working on this for way too long. Now that the cogs are turning I'll get back to business (and hope that money comes in so that there will still be business tomorrow).

Oh yeah, one more thing. THANK YOU!!!! We're kinda in a financial crunch period now and your extra help is very much appreciated.

Make a Gift

Make a gift to SETI@home now!

SETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). Users participate by running a free program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data. SETI lost government funding in 1993 and now survives on private donations.

Make a secure credit card gift to:

* SETI@home

Tried to donate also. The link above does not work, and the link in the "S" section of the Berkely donations site is the same.

After getting the email from Arthur C Clarke and Dan Werthimer this afternoon I struggled to make a donation through the website ... but I think I got there in the end!

Let's all spare a bit to help out to avoid the whole project closing.

Steve.

As Fuzzy Said

Thank YOU! You have set a New Record and Started to make a Dent in what is needed.. $9979.46 Keep Going! Applause!

One thing to Consider is you are the Captain of a Team. YOU can More Importantly LET THEM KNOW that Donations are needed and point them to the [url=http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/donate.php[Donation Page[/url]

Thank you all for your donations. Yes, the situation is really bad, as said in the mail and on the site, but by donating what we can afford, we can make a difference.

Please if you are a small company or a member of a Corporation, The Hardware

Donate Hardware

If enough Pieces and Parts start showing up, it cal also help to reduce the stress that happens here daily... If you can stand to donate a $1,000 then it would also be eligible for matching funds...

"WE" The Seti Users Can Make it Happen... It would only take $5.00 Us from every Seti User. Yes Being realistic it is not likely to happen, but it could... Spread the Word!

Pappa

Edit
If anyone needs help to convince the Team as to why, I would glad to help come up with reasons... I cna be reached al.setiboinc (at) gmail.com

Fuzzy please drop me a note...
End edit

Hello every one

SETI@home Classic has no funding at this point. Hasn't had it for years now. Costs about $500,000/year at a minimum to run the thing. SETI@home as we know it now is coasting on fumes until (hopefully) more funding somehow appears. BOINC has funding. Therefore, putting SETI@home on BOINC has given it at least some life in the past two years, and is really the only chance for any kind of future.

Many, Many Thanks to all of you!!
