i think everyone wants peace...but in the heat of battle...that thought gets lost in the fog of war...and we forget what it is we came here for...i think it's time we try to make this a place where friends can meet...and new friends can be made...and also a place where people feel welcome...always remembering there is a real person...with real feelings behind every post...Dan

What appears to us to have been a long time ago, this board was a forum of relative peace and harmony. Naturally, with so many people of diverse backgrounds there would be disagreements. However, this peace was broken by a religious fanatic and an ardent racist.

We as a community closed ranks to fight this evil which was being thrust into upon us without surcease or consideration for the feelings of the individual, nor the group. We banned together in the spirit of free speech, to fight against this grossly aberrant behavior on the fora. In the end we, being the active posters, won. But at what cost?

One of the worst things is to become what it is that you fought against. The methods used to fight evil are many times just as bad as the evil you are trying to destroy. One would call this fighting fire with fire; the only problem is that everyone gets burnt in one way or another. If this is carried on for any length of time, it can and will, turn into a witch hunt.

Most of the people involved with protecting the fora, disengaged after the offending parties retreated from our presence. However, some have not. They see into many things what it is that they are looking for, even if it is not there. They have over sensitized themselves to the fact that just because someone is radically different in their opinions/beliefs, or are of lesser knowledge, that they are wasting the groups time, or worse. Where upon they attack, perhaps with the best attentions, but never the less attack. Also there are also those who would use this situation to manipulate others to their own ends. Even the people who believe that they are protecting the fora. And for what? What cause?

It is when these misdirected attacks become personal that the entire fora suffers. Many people will not even come over to the Cafe because of this; they rightly just don't want to see or hear of it. It's about time that eveyone realize that we are all equals and that there are no leaders amongst us, and that we chose to participate as an individual and equal. No one person should be, nor feel, that they have the power to control others through smear or collusion, without the consent of the fora in general; and that only to protect the integrety of the fora as a whole.

A great man once said, "he who is without sin cast the first stone."

IMHO, it is about time that everyone hit the reset button, and start anew.

Account frozen...
