you say that the stats are updated anyway, would i be correct in saying that they are redownloaded? or does your update process/code check the date in the tables.xml file to see if the XMLs have been updated before deciding to download them again or not?

I check the date on the files themselves. When no new file is available, nothing is downloaded

The stats are updated with the old date. After all, a day has passed. This causes the stats for the delayed project to stall (all zeroes on credit/day.

My site (as well as the other stats sites) is affected as well.

At my site, the stats are updated once every 24 hours at 2 am UTC so everything should be up to date soon.

New XML was created a few hours ago, and several of the stat sites are updated, including KWSN!

I immagine we all do it slightly differently but my loader checks the tables.xml file of all projects every hour. If the timestamp has changed, it fires up an update. Otherwise it does nothing. Rinse, repeat :)

As a guess:
I would assume that Willy's code does check the date first. After all, it would waste quite a bit of server time/bandwith etc to download the files (they are quite large!), if they are the same files that were downloaded the day before.
His site does update its self, however, to reflect the fact that the relevent stats are avaliable from the other projects.

I believe that seti hasn't exported any XML stats for the last 48 hours, so the other stats sites can't update.

I will assume this is a seprate step then they use for generating the stats the Show up on your count, or even prodcuing the Team ranking here on their own site?

yes, it's a seperate process, the web pages access the database directly from what i know

the reason XML exporting is used is that it's done once, and is generally a lot easier/better/more efficient etc. than scanning the web pages themselves
also the stats sites know when they've been updated, and it's only necessary to download the information once per day, as that's how often most sites update their stats

and just to be absolutely clear, scanning the actaul webpages is very inefficient, and puts excessive load on berkeley's servers, as well as being a pain in the ass to maintain for the stats sites (for example if a value, say total credit, moves on the page, then the script to retrieve it has to be modified or rewriten, that's why for server status stats sites, an XML page was created, so avoid this problem, the link is at the top of the server status page

The XML stats is not shown on the Server Status page. one of those machines might do the work, but it's not told to us.

It might be down by choice, since the transitioner was backlogged several hours, and the deletes are still backlogged.

In any rate, when the XML file is created, it takes quite a while. If I remember reading correctly at one time, something like 2 hours. That's a lot of resources saved with the backlogged currently happening.

Any one know why the non berkeley credit trakers have been updated on over 48 hours?
