what is going on, Im reading alot of problums here. almost everyone I see on this new seti site are having problems with the new Boincs, hay if you don't want us to help just say so. Why did you guys change, you guys were doing a great job, now this.
Im now having problems, I can't get any new WU, and the little that I do have is doing nothing, it's just sitting.
I like you guys before all this mess, now I don't know.
I feel like you guys don't want our help.If I drop you guys for awhile I know Im going to lose everything I let you guys use my computer for. All that time might be wasted, because of all the bugs you guys have. I even downloaded Einstein and Im having problems with that. You guys should take down your sites fix them and then bring them back on line, with our WU and anything we have stored up as points, or what ever. I would hate to see you guys get the boot from all your helpers, thats bad for business, no one will be willing to give you any money, Im sure your feeling it right now.You should take it down and tell everyone that it will be up and running in a few weeks, without the bugs.
I hope for the best for you guys, I hate to see seti fly away and never to be heard from again.

Make that hundreds of thousands.... I'd guess the complaint rate is probably on the order of maybe .001%...

David, don't confound things.

First confusion is: To read a lot of problems and thus think the thing doesn't work. Of course you read a lot about problems in here. It's a Q&A forum! People who are just happily crunching have no need to write in here, have they?
You can see the number (and the growth rate) of BOINC users in any stats website (e.g. this one.

Second confusion: This Q&A is not a complaint desk. It's a place where voluteers help other volunteers. Thus your 'you guys...' is needless.

Sure wish I could join the hundreds of thousands. I've been trying for three days to get my account on BOINC. It keeps telling me "account not found" even though I can see all my account info on the website. I've been through the Wiki and other resources and simply can't get connected. I've tried my account key and password and neither are working.

All I want to do is start crunching again with my old account.

I realize many are volunteers but I don't think there's a need to come down on the ".001%" that simply can't connect. I can get the other BOINC projects to work but not SETI.

I'd hate to abandon the project, especially since I've been a member since June, '99, but I may have to.

Regards,
Kory

Kory, please don't misinterprete me. There ARE problems sometimes, and sometimes they are so grave that we can't solve them in here but have to report to the devs.
My point was that BOINC is not ONLY problems but working for lots of volunteers just fine.

Your problem now:
I think it would be interesting to see what your 'messages' tab says. Can you copy/paste in here?

just a thought are you using the account info for boinc or your old Classic account ie password

You can see how BOINC is grabbing the config info from SETI but that's it.

However, Shayne, you might be on to something. I tried both the account key and password from the classic client (command line, actually). BUT, my BOINC account password is the same as my classic password so that might not be a fix either.

I appreciate everyone's continued help. :)

Regards,
Kory

In the BOINC manager there is a tab named "Projects". Attach to SETI using the e-mail that SETI/BOINC sent you by copy and paste. Make sure that you have no extra blank spaces at the beginning or the end of the SETI address or your ID number.
