For someone like me who never has a big cache (.1 days), is there any reson I shouldn't be able to stick with 4.19? I kind of like it's simplicity.

If you're running multi-project, due to bugs it's highly recommendation to upgrade, and no it's got nothing to do with the new cpu-scheduler.

If single project and the bugs/missing features doesn't bother you, can still continue to run for a short time...

But, when Seti_Enhanced is "soon" released, it's in users own interest to upgrade to v5.2.6 or later, to get consistent claimed credit...

I recommend updating to at least 5.2.8. Right now that is the latest version with a fix that effects everyone. The versions after that have all been communications issues fixes, if you are not having problems there is no need to upgrade farther.

You know, I like all the "behind the scenes" featuers of 5 like the scheduler.... but I love the look of 4.19.

The updating percentage bars, no giant grey bar on the left taking up all that valuable space that could be used to display work unit information. Cosmetic things :(

well boincview is very good for all that, you can remove each/any/all "panels" (equivelent of the grey bar) and it's all nicely coloured (you can change the colours too) so you can see instantly what each host/project/workunit is doing

for example i have lime for currently running, darker green for paused, grey for suspended (workunit/project) red for errors, going from yellow -> orange -> red as it gets closer to a deadline, purple for units that are being transfered (up/down-loaded), on the "hosts" page i have blue for a host that has an old version of boinc (you can choose what "old" means exactly, i have old meaning older than the current recommended version), a light yellow for units that are running slowly (based on CPU efficiency), and red text on a white background for errors in the message log (the rest are either white/black on a coloured background), and a light blue for my progress bar
all of the above is completely customisable, you can change font, font style (bold, italics, underline, strikeout), font size, text colour, background colour, and progress bar colour
so pretty much more than you would/could ever want/use :)

it's well worth a try anyway, especially for how easy it is to manage all your hosts with it, it can automatically check for new versions of BOINC for you too ;)
