This usually happens if you attach and detatch from a project. All you need to do is merge your machines :) You can do that on your account page. Just click merge this machine at the bottom. You will see a list of any computer(s) that are currently attached to the project. Just choose the one that is the same and merge it with the most recent account :) Well with the current merge from SETI classic to BOINC, there are likely to be some account features not working. Earlier there was an error at the top of the accounts page. I do not know if it sstill there but as the merge progresses some options could be unavailable at one point or another. Trya again in a few hours if not then a day or so. It may work then. Or like you said, you could just wait until the WU expires and see what happens then. Mean while, happy crunching on your other computer :) "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible". Hebrews 11.3 |

Either because I have no credits in this 'ghost machine' or it doesn't recognize it as a similar enough to merge, who knows. Thanks anyway. When the WU assigned to it expires and goes out of scope, I'll zap it! :-) Regards, Wander |

Well, not only I got one of these, but the servers assigned it to an entirely new host. Its the same computer, but got a new designation. I'll delete it when possible. They will not take any away credit and if any credit is given its usually very small. After the deadline passes they will be thrown out. Your RAC is almost always not affected (at least mine so far has not) I only lost some RAC due to the time I was without the internet or when I was NOT analyzing a WU. I just find it odd that since the 15th my RAC has dropped over 200. Everyone who was affected by the week that we couldn't upload to SETI (7th to 15th) has a "messed up" RAC - it was frozen during that period, you got little or no credit for days, so your RAC then dropped as soon as it was 'unfrozen'. It will be a couple more weeks before it can begin to even out. |

Perhaps its my mistake or lack of understanding of what all goes into the RAC. I just find it odd that since the 15th my RAC has dropped over 200. The only change being these Ghost WUs |

Glitch or not, this seems to be killing my RAC. Please explain? I see nothing in the RAC calculations that would be affected in any way by a ghost WU, unless those reached the point that you were unable to get enough work to keep your CPU busy (in other words, at least 80 per CPU, certainly not 9 and 5). |

This is crazy. I have 9 ghost WUs on 1508010 as well as 5 on 1561314. Glitch or not, this seems to be killing my RAC. |

A ghost unit will eventually be timed out when the deadline passes and will be reallocated to another computer if it is needed. So no it doesn't affect the normal user, the ammount of units available to you/day make go down from 100 to 100 - (number of ghost units) but if you are crunching successfully you will probabbly never notice. |

I don't know how common it is, but I have the same thing, as well. Does having the ghost work units, effect anything? |

They tend to appear occasionally usually when the servers are overloaded, which was still the case on the 15th. |

I noticed a while ago that I have 9 WUs on my results pages that haven't appeared on my machines. They were supposedly sent on 15 dec, but no trace of them can be found on the machines. The machines: 660167 and 1221505. Is this common? Iiro |
