You need to go to your acct and setup new password..

I did a google on the error code 500, and\\found a previous
answer:

By definition the 500 error is:

The Server experienced an internal error and could not process the request.

so, it looks server related.
I'll try again next week..

Hi Jim,
I changed the password. But, I still get error 500.
I have been trying to set up a seti project to Boinc as an existing account.
(This prompts for e-mail and password; but, not for the account key -
and the first error said there was a missing acct key..)

Should I try the path that sets up a new account??

Here are results from the latest attempt...
(I'll try to time tag so I can tell where the missing acct field comes from.)

Ah-Hah, the first error about the missing acct key happens when I enter the URL of the project.
The rest of the messages start after I finish the account dialog..

BOINC Wiki

Just started using BOINC.
Successfully started using Predictor@Home
Problem adding second project: seti@home
was getting error 500

Read the FAQ and the boinc wiki.
Have coffee, go back and read more.

Adjust my firewall
add boinc mgr for all ip addresses - port 80
Previously, only had boinc.exe

Do a step-by-step....
1) set BOINC display page to Messages
2) call up projects pull-down tab; select attach to projects; pop-up starts up

3) put in set URL - no spaces
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu

4) Select use existing acct (have already rcvd account key through e-mail.)

5) Put in email address and password (password previuosly assigned through seti website.

6) get "Failed to attach to project" in top part of Pop-up

7) Select finish on pop-up

We have turned off work distribution for a bit to allow result uploads to catch up.
We will be extending the deadline for returning results so that the troubles with
the result upload handler will not result in lost credit.
