You have to install BOINC completely since it is working as a daemon. For attaching Seti@home to BOINC it is recommended to use the BOINC Manager. After that procedure BOINC can run in the background by controlling it using the boinccmd.exe. So no graphics is needed. |

But this does not help my OS/2 WARP 4 server. Looked at it, but what can I do with .WPI files? |

But this does not help my OS/2 WARP 4 server. Hey, you have an OS/2 server but don't keep it very much up-to-date, do you? :-) Those .WPI files are somewhat similar to .MSI files on Windows machines, when MSI means Microsoft Installer (which is a part of Windows 2000 or XP but for Win9x or NT4 you have to download and install it separately to be able to install .MSI files). WarpIn Installer is an OS/2 installer released under the GNU General Public Licence (GPL) and became quite a standard, many of current OS/2 applications use it, even some with the .EXE extension use WarpIn runtime. So first you have to download and install WarpIn (ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/warpin/warpin-1-0-8.exe), then you are ready to install any .WPI file you like. :-) Oh, yes, install the BOINC stuff first and then read the readme about how to install the SETI client. And - last but not least - because this forum is just for the Windows clients, with all your OS/2 related questions turn here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/seti-warp/. Next time I shall look at your computers I hope to see your OS/2 server there too! :-))) |
