Please simply add your name and OLD Seti Units completed to this list. Please DO NOT complain about BOINC here, use the I don't like the new software thread for that. Lets use this thread simply to show how many folks have left or will leave on 15 Decemeber, rather than fight with BOINC. I will go fist . . .

Dear Al Williams,

Not that I don’t care about the problems people have and the reaction on that, on the contrary, I feel sorry about the fact people are leaving Seti because the problems they encounter with Boinc/Seti although all the help provided in the Help section.

But I believe it would be more appropriate if you would start over this thread in the “Number crunching” forum or in the “Cafe Seti”.

You will have more response to the thread by doing so as this forum is more visited by people interested in Science.

I can’t move the thread to there but I can move posts from this thread to another thread.

Data units: 3677
Reason: sad to say but I want to keep my data, selfish or not...and I can't get my old stuff because of lost email/password to old account. And the help didn't help.

Why not print off a certificate of your Seti Classic Total, or create a signature that lists your totals:

mine for example:

Just ride off in the distance. I'm not sure what I hate more, the fact that seti@home is ot working properly (which I know they will fix in time) or having to hear people complain about it. Either way, both are irrelevant.

Al, if you spent as much time glancing over the threads or reading the wiki as you have done to vent your BOINC would be up and crunching by now....

Just ride off in the distance. I'm not sure what I hate more, the fact that seti@home is ot working properly (which I know they will fix in time) or having to hear people complain about it. Either way, both are irrelevant.

No they are not.

Seti@home relies on voluntary participation. Each person you drive away because of a grotesquely clumsy and problem-ridden migration process is one less person crunching numbers.

This is, or should be, of grave concern to the project.

And that people care enough to come here and complain shows how much interest they have in continuing what they feel is an important thing. That some of you verbally take a squat on these complainers instead of fixing the problems (not just linking to some workaround pages) indicates you don't realize the problems being caused.

check out this thread:
Wednesdays

I think it's lame that people get so frustrated when their computer stops racking up points. What's the big deal? Your connected and BOINC will get the WUs whent the servers come back up. Just seems silly to complain about it. People are literally GIVING their time to resolve issues and make it better. Not to mention that you can chose from multiple projects that your computer can work on while the seti servers are down.

And quit posting this here. This is a science forum.

No, you have to let the little ones have a place to make themselves seem important. Otherwise, they'll keep griping and not letting the adults do the things that we said we're here to do: crunch data, contribute, and help progress happen.

I have participated in the Seti project since it first began.
The present Seti/Boinc combination is terrible in my opinion.
I am discontinuing participation for now.
