Did you change it to read, use Avatar and after you made all your changes did you go to the bottom of the list and click update?????

This has nothing to do with avatars.

I too have been having this problem ever since the site went to 5.x.x server software. The forum preferences will not allow any checking of any boxes to make changes. After trying and clicking the update button, there is no update. It times out and says that I can not access the page. The only thung that updateing will accept is entering the BBcode for my signature. To get my signature in posts, I need to add it manually. Before the server software upgrade, I could had my avatar and could make all the changes to these preferences that I wished to do. Now I see I have no signature anymore and now I can not even add it. This is getting worse. Please help before my account disappears. :)

I just tried this myself, and yeah, can't get it to get a picture. Later I'll write up a bug report for the developers.

I don't use these gadgets myself, so I have no experience.
But did you think of entering the whole URL (including 'http://')?

Problem is in "View or edit Seti@home preferences" not profile. There is no browse button. The blank will not accept a file off the hard drive or url on the net. Pics I tried were 30K jpg from both on the web and on my drive.

The update preferences button will not save those changes. The screen saver shot does not update forced or not and returning to the preferences page shows the blanks empty of the data I had put in there. Other preferences choices do save.
