I just want to run seti@home as I have been doing for a number of years. I HAD 4 CPU'S RUNNING SETI, NOW I HAVE NONE!!!! What do I get questions "SERVER" "SOCKS" "PROXY" I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS SOFTWARE! THIS IS THE 6TH TIME I HAVE TRIED OVER THE PAST COUPLE MONTHS. THE SOFTWARE INSTALLS BUT DOES NOTHING. I AM GUESSING YOU HAVE TO ATTACH TO A PROJECT URL WHICH I TRIED BUT THEN IT STARTS ASKING QUESTIONS THAT I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO ANSWER. IF SOMEONE CAN TELL ME HOW TO CONNECT WITH SETI PLEASE DO. THOSE ON-LINE MANUALS ARE USLESS. THANK YOU LACH@WESTOL.COM |

Please check your Caps Lock, it looks like it is stuck. Writting in capital letters looks like shouting. Step by step: 1. If you have an older version then 5.2.8, uninstall it. 2. If you didn't create a password here, go here to create one. 3. Download the latest Boinc version. 4. Restart your host. 5. Install the fresh downloaded Boinc version. 6. Open Boinc Manager. 7. In the toolbar select "Projects" and then "Attach to project" 8. Fill in the project URL for Boinc/Seti, which is http://setiathome.berkeley.edu 9. Choose the "use existing account" option 10. Fill in your e-mail address and the password you just created 11. You should now be attached to the project If not, please come back. Read the News at the homepage Have a look at the Technical News Look if your question is not answered at the Boinc Wiki Best greetings, Thierry |

On two separate Windows PCs, I have found that this seems to relate to some strange registry error. See my discussion on my problems and the solution I found that worked on two PCs at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=22565 |
