I cannot seem to get into any of the web sites listed in the Projects tab of boincmgr 4.43 (running Red Hat Enterprise Linux Version 4). I've looked at the mime.types file and mailcap. Associations for html and htm are there. Does anybody know how to get around this issue? Thanks, JV |

This seems to have been an issue for many users. I was never able to get it to work on the current releases of Debian or RedHat. The latest recommended version of boinc (5.2.5 for linux) allows you to set an environment variable to specify a browser. With BROWSER=firefox set, the link buttons all work. Nothing I tried had any effect when using the 4.x boinc clients. |

Running Fedora Core 3, mailcap did nothing for me but as soon as I edited the line BROWSER=/root/Firefox106/firefox into the /etc/environment file and rebooted, all the links worked. Thanks for the two responses. I first tried to update the BROWSER variable in /etc/environment. I tried with many different values for the variable (including the one that was given in the response, 'firefox', and '/usr/bin/firefox'). It did not work on RHEL. I then upgraded to boinc 5.2.5 and it works. Thanks for the help, JV |
