Seems very intermittent - but at least I've managed to download 2 WU's today, even if none will upload. Couple of installs wouldn't download the software updates either.

So far I've got 7 or 8 WU's across 7 systems waiting to upload.

I have been able to download about 6 WU's over the last hour or so.

No uploads have been successful.

Using Dialup from Australia. Tracert etc is fine but lots of Boinc Log error messages "couldn't connect to hostname (setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu) and
"Attempting to communicate with [setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu] timed out".

Will now just let it crunch what it has and retry tomorrow. Time for sleep.

Cheers all,

I just think that everyone complains too much.. From the looks of it, there are some people who were here during the last outage, but there are also some people who were not.. If you just give UCB time, they will fix it.. They might not know what the problem is yet. If it is such a big deal to everyone, consider joining another project.. That is the beauty of BOINC... If you have already joined other projects, go for a walk, play with the dog, go see a movie.. Do something.. Worrying about the problems here isn't going to get anyone anywhere.. A RAC dropping from 40 to 33 is nothing.. My RAC can go up or down by more than 7 on any given day just based on which way the wind is blowing. I assure you that everyone will get the credit they deserve in time... If you run out of work... No big deal, attach to another project.. If you have work that passes a deadline, well, that is your own fault anyway.. I never have a WU pass a deadline and I am running computers from P400 all the way up to a X24400+. If you are passing the deadlines, you need to lower your cache.. There is no reason that someone should have 10 days worth of cache because then when you get into this situation, you are going to be in trouble.

Ok.. I think I am done for now..

Seems like there's an overall gauge to see what's going on: those of you who visit the Server Status page at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_status.html frequently, will notice that the number of 'Results in Progress' is rather higher than usual (has lately hovered around 1.2 million, and is currently at 1.44 million). Once that number starts to decrease, we'll know that the situation is improving...

Well thats the sign I have been looking for. As the Results Waiting to be sent has DECREASED, the WU's in progress keeps climbing. Which means that people can or are downloading and most people cannot upload. I too have e-mailed Berkley 2 times in the past 12+ hours. Still no response.

I'm not sure e-mailing them will help.

We can be pretty certain they know and they are not sitting on their hands. We know these guys and they are doing the business as we fill these forums with messages of "Oh my God...." "Hey my RAC.....". So lets be calm and watch some telly. Re-watch England again win its world cup group or something equally boring.

Maybe they are too busy attempting to fix the problem than read/respond to your emails... Or maybe they are too busy reading your emails to fix the problem.. Either way, I am sure that they know about it, so they don't have to keep being told.

Agreed, acutally I don't really mind too much if ul's get slowed as long as dl's are coming through. It's always fun to see the big spike in credit when they finally get through. :-)

Ok. Time to turn off the mean alarm. Im just trying to help. And I e-mailed them 2 times in the last 12+ hours. So if it takes them that long to read an e-mail then...well i dono if the peoblem will ever be fixed.

Boy and I glad for the failure. Yes, that's right, glad. These boards have been getting pretty boring with all that functionality we've been enjoying.

I think some(most) people are posting their problems not so much as complaints, but more to let people know the problem is WIDE spread and not the fault of someones own software or hardware. It might also be that some new posters finally feel they have something to contribute of worth. I mean when it comes to helping others, we regulars jump right on the questions. Newer members may be dying to help. Some of those might be afraid to try to help others because they see the way we jump on eachother and don't feel comfortable about making a mistake. I like to see people correct me, because it means:

1) the end user is sure that he's getting correct answers

2) I get to learn

I haven't seen anyone correct me that didn't have the best of intentions.

I have just noticed an increase in traffic according to the cricket graghs. This could be a sign that things are about to improve.

I have to agree.

When everything is working relatively fine (ul, dl and credit) and there's no flame war going on, things can get a bit boring.

Sometimes I think we are alone in the universe, and sometimes I think we are not. In either case the idea is quite staggering.

All the servers are running, but ping or tracert doesn't reach. Weird, eh?
Its been 24 hours now since I've uploaded my last result. I can still download though. And I now have 9 results waiting. Is about 350 credits per day good enough for a Pentium M 1.6 GHz on WinXP SP2 512 MB DDR-RAM?
Thanks

Hmm, I just calculated it for a Notebook with a centrino 1.7 today: I had about the same result.
Mine - unfortunately I'll have do detach it again in a few days - uses 1 hr 40 min for a WU (Mavericks optimized client). This is around 15 WUs/day, and 20 creds/WU supposed this would make 300.
