On my system I have it set to 'Run always' and never notice boinc running while using my other programs. And my system has several jobs to do besides crunching and they never miss a beat. i too run BOINC constantly. I almost never realize its running unless I am watching the logger and the MapView. Hi there, Here's what I had to do to get it to work: Right click on the BOINC icon in the task bar or go to the Manager and select Commands. Select 'Run Always' Select 'Network Activity Always Available' The process pop-up window appears with the BOINC display of SETI crunching data. I closed the window, and waited. My screen went blank after the correct wait time but no SETI display. When I touched the keyboard to resume activity, the activity appeared to be 'underneath' the first overlay of blank/hibernate screen. BOINC is selected as my screensaver and 'go to blank screen' in desktop properties is not selected. Am I getting this problem because I didn't select the install as 'a service type'? I just used the default install type. I can't seem to go back and fix it without uninstalling and installing. Thanks. |

i dont want to see this msg anymore ;[ Catch-22. Every time you look to see if the message is there, you create the very message you're hoping no to see ;) Check your General Preferences and see if "Do Work When Computer is In use" is set to yes. |

Why do the "Do Work When Computer is In use" option exist if it do not work? I do not define always running with low priority as "do not work when computer is in use" |

I'm curious what you think this would do... There isn't any communication between your monitors power button and your PC. Turning off your monitor will have no effect on how your system runs. jonas wrote: Why do the "Do Work When Computer is In use" option exist if it do not work? But it does... Change your preferences on the user page. Update that project to make the setting 'stick'. |
