YAOSCW-0-r8.1, i.e. the optimised 4.11 client, runs well here on an (even older) PC under WIndows 98 (first edn). Takes about 15-16 hours on a Celeron II @ 400 MHz (unless there is more gaming done on the PC).

I have a P4-SSE3-Win XP.
I installed Seti 4.72/4.18, downloaded YAOSCW-P-r8.1, unzipped it and copied the App Info and 4.11 files into the Boinc Projects directory.
I'm happily crunching away but why does Boinc Manager say ..
Starting computation for result XXX using setiathome version 4.18
When Task Manager shows that I'm using 4.11 and there isn't any file designated 4.18 anywhere in my Boinc Programme directory?

I did exactly the same on my old AMD 800 except that I used Plain vanilla and the Boinc Manager shows that I'm using 4.11

don't mind. The version number reported is from app_info.xml and it won't be checked by the server upon validation.

It seems to me, maybe I am wrong, but shouldn't the optimizer be at the same or above 4.18 like the SETI client?

I am running Windows 98, Second edition., Pentium II Processor. Compaq DeskPro computer. I know its old. But it does what i need it to do :)

4.11 and 4.18 have the same algorithm inside; the only difference is 4.18 has improved graphics, and the optimized clients don't have graphics (official 4.11 had graphics). Sorry I haven't tried it with Win98SE, but I hope it will run on Win98SE if boinc core runs on it.
