It's best answered here in the Wiki. Where the most important part is: Since the calculation of the RAC is sensitive to time that the RAC was last calculated, the RAC of the children may not add to the RAC of the parent. For example it is possible to have 2 computers that have RACs of 15 and 30, and still have the Participant's RAC of 35, or 25, etc. Right after joining a project and getting the first credits granted are working against a very short time, and slightly odd things can happen to the numbers. The odd numbers for RAC at the beginning of a users tenure at a project are strictly an artifact of the equation used to generate them and are the result of the extremely short time span and the lack of previous data. Note: Also, the RAC is updated when Credit is granted after the Result has passed Validation, not when a Result is returned. Note: You cannot sum Recent Average Credit values, such as adding all of your individual computer's RAC numbers and get a meaningful answer. |

Why is it that since i added a second computer to boinc my average credit has hardly gone up at all? Could it be that average credit is affected by classic because the second computer used to be running classic up to the point i switched? I'm sure this is old news but if someone could explain it that would be great. Thanks |
