ONE MORE THING....Classic is closing, so your poll is meaningless!
Maybe you should have asked "do I use Boinc or not"? Then the answer would have been a resounding "YES"!!!

If you really want a vote, I vote BOINC for a long and great life. I have had no issues with the software from the first time I ran it, over a year ago. Yes, there have been server problems, yes some people have had some connection and install issues. Yes there have been other issues with some faulty versions of the software.

Currently there are a lot of people happily crunching away at many projects. I personally run 4 different projects, most of my computers run 3 different projects, one runs 2 and one runs all 4. My machines are always busy, and I am happy with the way things run. Yes I do run into the debt issue that others have, but I know it will be fixed in an upcoming version.

I am very happy to have seen this grow. I ran the old software, it was boring at best. I would not have wanted to build a large farm for the Classic, but for this version, I keep improving machines, getting more, and doing what I can to help. I feel like I am actually helping out since I am working on more than one project.

Classic has come to the end of it's usefulness. It can not be fixed. The data that is done there is so far behind in validation, and the amount of good data that comes from it is a lot less than comes from this version. Plus they are doing a lot more data analysis, than just looking for Intelligent Life.

So, for all the faults that go on, it still is worth trying. Not everyone understands how to make the new software works, but just ask and there are many willing to help. As with any large group, you will have your "not so nice" answer, of which I admit I have given in the past, but I usually try to be helpful, and try not to say anything if something upsets me.

It also has been hinted that the next version of the software will be a lot easier to install and connect. I am glad to hear this, and hope it will come soon, since there are a lot of new masses coming in and having problems with the install.

I say, good luck in getting it working. Once you get it working and it works smoothly for you, I am hoping you will be just as happy, if not happier than I (and many others are) with this version of the software.

Happy Crunching, and lets hope we find the signal that changes what we know, today!

If you're looking for help, it would help us if you would tell us what problems you're having. By looking at your account, you don't have any computers attached to SETI@Home by way of BOINC. Here's an Installation Guide that might help you get up and running.

As for whether or not they're going to keep BOINC, that's not subject to votes or opinion polls. The Classic SETI@Home was broken, the developers tell us so. Over 200,000 users have attached over 445,000 computers to SETI-BOINC. Its development is still in process, but real work is being done. There's no going back.

You will not be able to post to the Number Crunching and Cafe Seti forums, unless you have some form of credit. This was done after a couple of trolls attacked the forums and essentially brought them to a standstill.

You do not need any credits to post to the Q&A forums. So if, as said, you tell us where you have the problems, we may look into it and try to help you along.

BOINC is working for me. That Seti has some problems at times is nothing new, they did have problems at the time of Classic as well.

If you cannot post because you have no credits, how can you post this? All software has problems. It's not unusual to read of issues in a new software product. The question isn't "will it work or not?" but "what problems am I having, if any, that I can tell the developers about so they can make this software work for everyone?"

BOINC, with everyone's dedication and help, will be better.

I have been trying to post to get some help, but sadly it occasionally tells me I cannot post because I have no credits.... (lavalife?) I have read countless mesg's about troubles and issues with boinc, so... my question is is boinc going to work or not ? if not are they keeping the regular way of using SETI ? I guess this is more of a poll... VOTE HERE! Should they keep boinc? or Bounce it??
