Arrggg! I have done everything to try and reset Boinc to work correctly all the way down to uninstalling and reinstalling. I go it to re connect after what seemed to be a Miracle of computer engineering machismo....but to no avail. it still won't download any wu's and now that I have reset the project for what seems to be the hundrenth time I get the error "Master file fetch failed", and it all shuts down. and before some hero of the day says check my firewall been there done that. Check it out here There is no solution: BOINC (windows client) ver.4.13 connects to a project without any problem, gets all statstics but says something as "no work from project - load new version, plz". But BOINC ver.4.19 and 4.45 can't get statistics and resetting project with "Master file fetch failed" error. log: To pause/resume tasks hit CTRL-C, to exit hit CTRL-BREAK 2005-09-16 11:31:09 [---] Starting BOINC client version 4.45 for windows_intelx86 2005-09-16 11:31:09 [---] Data directory: C:\\Program Files\\BOINC 2005-09-16 11:31:13 [---] No general preferences found - using BOINC defaults 2005-09-16 11:31:13 [---] Remote control not allowed; using loopback address 2005-09-16 11:31:15 [---] Running CPU benchmarks 2005-09-16 11:32:12 [---] Benchmark results: 2005-09-16 11:32:12 [---] Number of CPUs: 1 2005-09-16 11:32:12 [---] 1688 double precision MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU 2005-09-16 11:32:12 [---] 3113 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU 2005-09-16 11:32:12 [---] Finished CPU benchmarks 2005-09-16 11:32:12 [---] Resuming computation and network activity 2005-09-16 11:32:12 [---] request_reschedule_cpus: Resuming activities 2005-09-16 11:32:12 [---] Insufficient work; requesting more 2005-09-16 11:33:56 [http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/] Master file fetch failed BOINC couldn't get main page for http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/. Do not put spaces at the front of rear of the URL or Acct number.... BOINC couldn't get main page for http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/. Please check the URL and try again. And the beat goes on Sonny and Cher BOINC Wiki |

Check it out here Please look in your BOINC directory for file "account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml". Using Notepad, open that file. If there are no blanks within the string on the second line, then copy the second line which has the "http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/" in it and post it here. Also, in the next line with the "authenticator", confirm that there are no blanks in that string, but do NOT post it here. Close Notepad WITHOUT saving. Thanks, and we will try to get to the bottom of your problem. |

Still no solution? I am having this problem with some of my machines. I have read and applied every suggestion i can find in this site and internet. Maybe the cause is somewhere between berkeley and my machines, where i do not have control. |

Still no solution? Could you let us know which of your machines is experiencing this (the host ID number would do that), and post some entries from your Messages tab on that/those machines, so we can get a better idea of what you're experiencing? MJ |

My problem solved : Our network admin has changed the GROUP POLICY. So, a proxy is now neccessary, which we did not know about. I configured the proxy option in BOINC manager and all is fine now. Thank you very much. |
