Prior to the storm a mandatory evacuation was ordered for New Orleans. Those that chose to leave are alive and well with maybe some property damage. Those that chose to stay, for whatever reason, we know what happened to them. In the final examination the answer is apparent. In an evergency situation you have to take care of yourself, you cannot depend on the government to take care of you!

That takes the ability to evacuate for granted. This assumption is obviously nonsense, as the poor and the invalid don't have the ability to do so, and imho it's the very duty of the government to protect the weak, that's where I pay my taxes for.

Most of those who stayed didn't chose to do so, but had no choice because of lack of transportation, lack of places to go to, lack of money to pay for any service.

If you order a mandatory evacuation, with the knowledge that's impossible without help, and don't help, you are either dumb or reckless or both.

I agree completely! If the government orders an evacuation then the government needs to take care of those who cannot comply for whatever reason. But then were back to a government failure again aren't we!

I think it is time for USA government to at least take a second look at and try to reconsider the Kyoto Protocol.

Here is something for you Robert.

We know you don't care about other people on this planet...perhaps we could translate it to you in a couple of other languages? so you probably could understand?

This discussion?? (mud throwing...) is really unworthy to appear in this board.
The used language often leaves very much to be desired.
Persons using such language are a vexation to the well educated mind and the balanced spirit.

Our thoughts should go in the first place to the victims and the families!!!

Wir wissen, daß Sie sich nicht um andere leute auf diesem Planeten kümmern...vielleicht sollten wir dies in ein paar weitere Sprachen übersetzen? [done with one] Vielleicht verstehen Sie es dann.

I am not anti american Robert, I have relatives living in america and the fact that USA is the most complex cultural
country in the world also, in fact, should makes it lie one step ahead in that aspect. Eventually we all have to realize that we are living on the same planet and start to act like that. What I think i wrong is how the american government act, not the american people.
It is just 1 world and 1 human race.

I bet, he is not that intelligent to read AND understand this...

Dear Mister Ribbeck (nice German name, my heraldic database shows its origins round Hamburg, Lübeck...)
1. Be carefull with the word "we"
2. We European Citicens are willing to help like ever since WW2 (I know, Ku-Klux-Clan-TV didn't report).
3. Although I'm not proud of our governement, I am proud to be Austrian (no, we do NOT have kangoroos). And as you do NOT know, WE are the nation along with Germany that sends out special teams to almost every disaster region around the world, where clean and drinkable water ist needed (just one example). These teams are standing right now on airport Vienna to start off to help. But YOUR president....

I suppose, in every country of our Union there are gathering a lot of people to provide some help for Katrina's victims.

Therefore, please shut up and read my signature. Since now it's valid also for YOU...
