Could one reason why the PTB are letting things run is that they know that the workload will increase drastically when classit finally gets shut down?
So they are stress testing SetiBoinc.
They need to see what can't cope now, so that they can fix it, now.
When classic finally gets shut down it will be too late. They will get deluged. So they try and find the problems now, and fix them.

As an aside, the waiting for validation queue has just dropped to (just) under 1,000,000.

This is the first time I have noticed it fall, rather than rise, for quite a while.

Once it starts to fall, it should snowball down, i hope....

A couple of people are using MRTG or RRD to graph this stuff, and it is starting to look like they've got it:

1.5M should be difficult to achieve. The SETI team is not playing fair play lol

I'm currently trying seti beta instead of seti

Let's be bold and set 1.5M as the next big target.

Seems will hit 1M before todays outage. What is the next target ?

Holy crap! For the first time in a few weeks I saw the validator queue drop by 2 thousand!
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

15:13 We see an increase in the queue by Monday 09:00 UTC.
13:15 the validator crashes.
21:5 a server crashes.
3:50 everything works perfectly until next weekend, the validator runs out of things to validate, and the Devs get the beers they deserve.

Now you know the odds, who wants to place bets?

We're planning on doing some rigorous file deleting during the database outage tomorrow. I hope we can turn the corner before the validation queue hits 1M!

After careful consideration, and the fact that the unvalidated W/U's are piling up at a rapid rate, I am going to suspend my Seti/BOINC crunching just long enough that the Validator queue can play some catch up. I don't have as big a computer farm crunching, but by the end of next week I will have 5 boxes all working SETI. This will give me time to get my network running smoothly while the guys at Berkeley can get their issues sorted out. I hope my small contribution will help.
