Hence while I try to get rid of this stigma. As I said, it was put upon us by those who can change between negative and postive by twitching their fingers. One minute Boinc is bad, then the next, "hey the validators are back on!", so Boinc is good.

sounds bipolar to me

The need for POm-Poms only comes out when things are not going quite right and we need to defend ourselves against the nay-sayers.

Nothing against you Dec, but who do you have to defend against exactly? After every outage there will be 12 threads of people saying things should change, they can't upload or download, and those of us who try to help will be branded with the name I am trying to burn.

Aren't we allowed to be positive after an outage?
Or is only Paul D. Buck allowed to be positive, even when he isn't?

Hence while I try to get rid of this stigma. As I said, it was put upon us by those who can change between negative and postive by twitching their fingers. One minute Boinc is bad, then the next, "hey the validators are back on!", so Boinc is good.

So, are we nay-sayers? Why would someone brandished a cheerleader be saying nay all the time? Since I am cheerleader, brandished upon me by azwoody, I would be a Yes-sayer. :)

{shrug...}look at my pompoms... they went up in smoke!

BOINC/SETI seems to work very well. The need for POm-Poms only comes out when things are not going quite right and we need to defend ourselves against the nay-sayers.

I wish people would be be more broad-minded and relaxed and just let this things work themselves out.

You've not seen that the same type of problems have occured over and over again since the "official" launch of Seti Boinc over a year ago.

My "total Boinc Credit" is now around 180,000, but you'll notice that my seti/boinc credit isn't anywhere near that. It used to be a joke about how often seti/boinc went down for the weekend....

This was in reply to Jim's post here, yet I thought it would be good on its own.

I say, lets all get out our pom-pom's

NO! I'd say, let's get them out and burn them ceremoniously at a big grill fest.

Since everyone unknowingly can become a Cheerleader, even when posting a first time in the midst of a thread full of negativity over whatever went wrong the last time (que cameras on Monday), I'd like the whole thing to be done with.

Since the persons who change between negative and postive can say who is a cheerleader or not, without them having a nickname of their own, it's about time we acted like adults, we put those who insist on naming people names on ignore and started being a whole group of Seti user and crunchers.

So what if someone posts in Science? So what if someone posts in the Cafe? If you check amounts crunched and RACs, who is then less than you? He may not post here?

So away with the pompoms. Let's burn them, like your mums may have burned their bras in the 60's! And let's try to become a group of people who are all crunching the same thing, who will not minus rate others because they don't like eachother, but be posting as adults on these forums!

Why do you think you are better than 'us'?
Why do you think 'we' are better than you?

There is so much negativity going on on these boards, so much flaming and flame baiting. I wonder why!

What makes you so different from me, that you have to categorize me? You don't know me, yet you think you can put a stamp on me anyway!

So why not make away them stamps, why not burn all books behind us and start being a family?

Isn't that what Seti@Home is in the end about? No boundaries? We're looking all over the sky, yet we make boundaries in a small forum on a small planet? Boundaries between where people should post, what people should be called, categorize people in different stages...

May I say I don't get you?
