I tried installing boink with terminal using the following:

[mine]% chmod +x /Users/katlp/boinc/boinc_3.18_powerpc-apple-darwin

but it doesn't work.

I use Mac OS X 10.2.8, and I know systems 10.2.x had dificulties in the beta versions.

Does anyone know about this? Or how I should use terminal?

When you say "it doesn't work" ... what do you mean?

Elaborate, please. What doesn't work about it? :-)

It doesn't run on Jaguar (10.2.8) anyway - no need to bother trying.

I tried the command-line route as well and couldn't make it happen ... but try this (presuming you have downloaded, un-gzipped and maybe even renamed your new SETI app - or at least dropped it into the Applications folder):

1. control-click on the new SETI app
2. using the contextual menu command "open with" just select the Terminal app
3. when I did it this way, it all just happened ...

Activity Monitor tells me that two 'setiathome_3.08_' processes are running, using all my spare processor cycles ... which is 95% nice ;-)

Good luck!

PS. I had one other glitch ... I had changed the 'use no more than' item to 10GB instead of the default 100 and this held things up until I changed it back.
