I don’t know if BOINC is accurately depicting the data or not. However, someone should perhaps look at:

18 hr 52' 28" RA
12 deg. 38' 50" DEC
Recorded 1/29/04 16:12:09
Base Frequency 1.420000000 ghz

The display showed a slightly skewed band of almost zero signal at the upper end of the frequency display. This zero signal band extended across the entire time width of the display at all display variations as the processing proceeded.

No, I don’t just sit and stare at my screen saver, but the anomaly was so unusual as to catch my eye.

Sincerely,

William T. Guiher, P.E.

Base Frequency 1.420000000 ghz

...

This is well known and is in the FAQs.

The centre frequency 1.420000000 GHz suffers a processing artifact and appears as a near zero 'trough' amongst nearby background noise.

Martin,

Thank you for the info. I looked, but obviously missed the reference. I will most definitely keep crunching. (10k+)

I searched for any documentation on it to. With no luck.

Good eye Bill. It would really be something to spot a sign of alien life by seeing it on the screensaver.
