the key phrase from the memo ........"the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy." No, up to the end, the UN inspectors reported that they were not being given the full access they wanted. Report Though, Hans Blix did say that he wanted more time because he was making progress. The problem with that is that Saddam wanted his neighbors to believe he really did have WMD (and they all did) so he did not want to ever give the inspectors free access. Thus, he remained in violation. As for other means, sanctions didn't work, oil-for-food (it turns out) was extremely corrupt . . . what would you suggest, send in 007 for a hit? Pauly-poo would have screamed at such a covert assassination mission, as would the rest of the world. No, the war was legal, but assassination is not. But, back to something important: My avatar is still blurry . . . Captain? |

But to the end, Saddam refused full access by UN inspectors, in direct violation of the Kuwait war of liberation's cease fire agreement. Thus, even if he had no WMD (which, despite the glib statement of your memory-impaired author, surprised everyone), the war was legal to enforce his many violations. But Tom, everyone agrees that Saddam Hussein was the problem. Instead of going through that whole war though, why not try to topple the regime (including his closest people) by another way short of war? I mean, Saddam Hussein was just one man. Didn't the UN inspectors also say before the war that there weren't any WMD left in Iraq? |

........back on topic, Iraq, the President said, still had the power to prevent war by "declaring and destroying all its weapons of mass destruction" -- but if Iraq did not declare and destroy those weapons, the President warned, the United States would "go into battle, as a last resort." Don't worry viewers or listeners, this is not a rerun. PZTV/WPZ brings these fine messages from Paul Zimmerman as a community service. (WE know that our community only consists of 12 people...but this information is required to keep you feeling inferior) We know after a long day on the fishing boats, or a long day of sitting on the foam donut at the computer table, you need the opportunity to escape so we are ashamed to bring you the Words Of Webster Hour, hosted by His Royal Hiney Paul Zimmerman. So sit back, get your Pop corn and libation (You Will Need It,in case of chokeing), put your feet up, and let His Royal Hiney tell you just how f***ed up you and your lives are, for answering to a Government not run by him. Reach for personal impowerment by being told you don't matter, you have no opinion, and that His Royal Hiney knows exactly what to do to make you all better. Tune in everyday, at anytime to learn how to post links to news stories. So come on and join us, and learn that you will never reach the level in your life anything equal to His Royal Hiney. Can't join us today, don't fret, the same type message is repeated everyday ...just to keep you reminded. Once you have been beaten into submission and feel you are at the lowest point in life you could possibly be, drop by and see Paul at the stations, and there will be no need to Thank Him, Your Bowing before him is all the Thanks He Needs. www.boincsynergy.com |

I don't know that either, Misfit, but I have noticed that he doesn't read well for comprehension. Maybe he never got to "political" in his vocabulary class, or maybe too much THC erases words from your brain. It's a mystery . . . [Edit]: Captain! Look at my poor, poor avatar! It makes me dizzy. |

Apparently, Pauly-poo, no one wants to play. Well then, I will . . . From your link:
It is safe to say that, at the time, it surprised almost no one when the Iraqis answered the President's demand by repeating their claim that in fact there were no weapons of mass destruction. As we now know, the Iraqis had in fact destroyed these weapons, probably years before George W. Bush's ultimatum: "the Iraqis" -- in the words of chief U.S. weapons inspector David Kaye -- "were telling the truth."
When you went to Baghdad in support of Saddam's regime, didn't you wear a Chemical/Biological mask? |
