In principle, a cyber hug would be fine. But if Fat B ever shows up, with his gas problem, a hug might be dangerous . . . even deadly! By the way, is this a hijack in progress? (How exciting!) |

Yes, I say honour, because Rocky is one of the persons, one feels honoured to meet and come to know! * Fuzzy, Thank you for your kind words. And I am the one honored to know you. In days gone by, we did not see completely eye to eye, but our friendship has grown, and for that I am truly thankful. @Carl, I think you have smoked too much of the funny tobacco lately! Carl had the right to call me out as he did. During my dark period I spoke to him quite often and was rather hateful to him at times. Since that time I have spoken to Carl less and never gotten the opportunity to "Mend" fences. I hope that this is the beginning of kinder times between us. Very Respectfully, Rocky www.boincsynergy.com |

Now, there's a portait of one of the finest, noblest, most generous persons, I've ever had the honour to get to know! Yes, I say honour, because Rocky is one of the persons, one feels honoured to meet and come to know! So, when Zimmerman belittles and talk down to Rocky, it only tells which person Zimmerman is! With his constant appearance of feeling superiour to us others here, his constant rhetorically lectures gets tedious, and only shows who's the real superiour person here! @Carl, I think you have smoked too much of the funny tobacco lately! Rocky, my friend- Remember? It certainly wasn't so long ago When we all heard from you Rocky, my friend How there was just one way- And with your buddy the Wordler Had all the skinny on the inside track I respect your opinion- Rocky But from where comes your authority To call down someone elses? * Yes Carl, I remember. And I have never claimed to be perfect. I have yet to be able to walk on water :-). I make mistakes. I have aligned myself with people in the past for what I felt was a "just Cause" and in turn it turned into a ball busting, hate mongering, lynching. I have distanced myself from that crowd as you well know. I still have strong convictions, but I have come to realize that people have differing opinions, and convictions. And I am willing to listen to them. I was not fair with you and others in the past, and for that I apologize, and have apologized. I do learn from my mistakes and short comings. For this I believe I am a better person. I must say that I have learned alot here about people in general, and I have built friendships with many of the very ones I had disputes with before.. I had to take my own advise, "Keep an open mind". As for Paul, May he continue to express his opinions here, but stop the belittling of those that disagree. Discuss disagreements, don't view our opinions as "Petty". Who know's, with all the information he puts out maybe we all might pick up something we didn't know. If we fail to learn we fail to grow! Very Respectfully, Rocky www.boincsynergy.com |

Hey, rocky...... I've never said ' everyone ' is shallow and petty..... I did say some are... You worry about how you comport yourself and I'll worry about how I comport myself. You spend an inordinate amount of time telling me how I should act..... Maybe instead of attempting to smear me with falsehoods and generalities which don't hold, you should view your own behavior. Seems to be the kind of thing you preach, I'm surprized you don't follow your own advice. If you feel it's necessary for you to continue to preach to me, try db's thread..... This one has a different topic. topic reminder?, more proof, ....are we all that complacent?......... |

All the handwringing about who may have brought the topic up here, (....directed towards me), and whether they have any 'right' to do so, (.... uh, me, again), ...none of that addresses the issues. * Paul, You sidestep the point again...as usual...it is not the post or the material, it is your insistance that you are the only one right.* You who wish to deflect your discomfort with being confronted with this story onto me personally are welcome to do so.... *Again..It is not the discomfort with the topic..it is your 'know It All Attitude".* Finding an acceptable public agreement on solutions for Iraq and solutions for agreements on our involvement in Iraq will not be effected by your gnashing your teeth at me. * Nor will it be affected by your constant harboring on "old repetative news". As an American who loves his country, I choose to be defined as someone seeking to understand and speak out about what has changed this nation into something which can be represented by actions other than those actions which represent the national ideals I grew up believing in. *Well Paul, I am glad you love "Your" country...but please keep in mind that you are not it's only inhabitant, and together we effect change.* Any, or all of you, can condemn me for taking that position, that is your right. I support your right to express your opinions, but to use a phrase that's in danger of becoming nothing more than a tired cliche, ....I want to see my country returned to an honorable place among the world's peoples. *Bravo, bravo..Again..It does not matter what position you take...just keep in mind that you are but one opinion. You may support our right to express our opinions, however they are only valid if they fit into your scheme of things. And yes Paul, Most of us want to be in "An Honorable Place Among The Worlds People" Nobody likes a HATER!. Instead of telling all of us that we are petty or our opinions do not matter, as an aspiring Politician it seems you should be trying to bring people together instead of dividing them. Your issues with Iraq, and our Government are nothing new to us here. You apparently are and avid reader and feel it is necessary to keep the issues in the forefront, lest we forget. We know you are intelligent, so instead of bashing the leadership of the Country you so Love, that your fellow Americans helped put into office, Lobby in your State to effect change. As stated in earlier posts..The President is just one man..not the whole Government. If you truly believe that others have the right to express their differing opinions, then lead by example. Everything in this world is not Simple "Black And White" as you wish people to believe. If it was, we all would be qualified to run this country. If George Bush is as Dumb and stupid as you wish people to believe..then how come he is sitting in office and Not You. ( Oh I almost forgot..He bought and Lied his way into Office)People are sick and tired of hearing what we are doing wrong... and how F**ked we are, a positive spin from time to time would be encouraging. If this country you Love has not one positive side, then maybe it is time for you to move on... If you Love This Country...The Support This Country. Support those that were elected to Effect change. If you would become more open minded to the differences we all have...then maybe one day Washington will have a place for you...not because you beat your way into it... Oh and BTW Paul, Thank you for all the links to your news stories..it saves me the time of looking them up online myself. Have a great Day! Rocky www.boincsynergy.com |

In my lifetime I've never known a world that loved us, they tolerate us. I think the idea the world will ever love us is just a pipe dream. Everyone is out for their own self interest. Utopia doesn't exist. If we were weak and poor someone would soon take us over. That's just the way it has allways been

The New York Times editorial today expresses and addresses some of the same issues raised in this thread.... Iraq and the story of our involvement is not something for us to just 'move beyond' and get on with things as if all in the past is now a moot point. Whether we want to condone and support the actions of our government or not, that middle ground that people pine for will not be found until we all acknowledge what is the truth about Iraq and what's something other than the truth. For many, here and abroad, Iraq and our involvement there is defining who we are in the world today. All the handwringing about who may have brought the topic up here, (....directed towards me), and whether they have any 'right' to do so, (.... uh, me, again), ...none of that addresses the issues. You who wish to deflect your discomfort with being confronted with this story onto me personally are welcome to do so.... Finding an acceptable public agreement on solutions for Iraq and solutions for agreements on our involvement in Iraq will not be effected by your gnashing your teeth at me. Before we can apply ourselves to finding any middle ground amongst ourselves, we all have to understand just where we stand, the how, and the why of our standing in this place. 'Moving on' will never be attained by denying the reality of what we are now defined by. As an American who loves his country, I choose to be defined as someone seeking to understand and speak out about what has changed this nation into something which can be represented by actions other than those actions which represent the national ideals I grew up believing in. Any, or all of you, can condemn me for taking that position, that is your right. >>>Are you sitting on an Ivory Throne telling everyone that their way is wrong and your way is right? Carl, do you remember how Rocky changed his mind about the pest you call the "Wordler", and had enough of an open mind and heart to see something other than his first inkling? Rocky has repudiated his prior affiliation, but are you still going to condemn him? What about his children and his children's childrens' children? How far does ones error follow him? Rocky said he's always ready to be convinced--he has shown himself to have an open mind--can you say the same? Have you ever seen the same in any of your friends besides Rocky? And from where comes your authority, Carl, to call down someone else's opinion? |

ML Cudd, since you wrote this in my post, I have to wonder if you were referring to me. Alex, Do you see yourself in my Post? Are you of the attitude that you could teach the government how to do their jobs correctly? Are you the "Holder Of All Knowledge"? Are you sitting on an Ivory Throne telling everyone that their way is wrong and your way is right? Are you reminding all that don't agree with you that there opinions do not matter, or they are petty or simple? If none of these apply then it was not directed at you. Besides the guilty party called me out immeadiately after my post. Respectfully, Rocky www.boincsynergy.com |

Newsweek apologizes for story that sparked deadly violence KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Newsweek magazine has apologized for errors in a story alleging that interrogators at the U.S. detention center in Guantanamo Bay desecrated the Koran, saying it would re-examine the accusations, which sparked outrage and deadly protests in Afghanistan. Fifteen people died and scores were injured in violence between protesters and security forces, prompting U.S. promises to investigate the allegations. "We regret that we got any part of our story wrong, and extend our sympathies to victims of the violence and to the U.S. soldiers caught in its midst," Newsweek Editor Mark Whitaker wrote in a note to readers. In an issue dated May 9, the magazine reported that U.S. military investigators had found evidence that interrogators placed copies of Islam's holy book in washrooms and had flushed one down the toilet to get inmates to talk. Whitaker wrote that the magazine's information came from "a knowledgeable U.S. government source," and before publishing the item, writers Michael Isikoff and John Barry sought comment from two Defense Department officials. One declined to respond, and the other challenged another part of the story but did not dispute the Koran charge, Whitaker said. But on Friday, a top Pentagon spokesman told the magazine that a review of the military's investigation concluded "it was never meant to look into charges of Koran desecration. The spokesman also said the Pentagon had investigated other desecration charges by detainees and found them 'not credible.'" Also, Whitaker added, the magazine's original source later said he could not be sure he read about the alleged Koran incident in the report they cited, and that it might have been in another document. "Top administration officials have promised to continue looking into the charges, and so will we," Whitaker wrote. Following the report, demonstrations spread across Afghanistan, and Islamic leaders gathered to pass a resolution calling for anyone found to have abused the Koran to be punished. Many of the 520 inmates at Guantanamo are Muslims arrested during the U.S.-led war against the Taliban and its al-Qaeda allies in Afghanistan. National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said in an interview for CNN's Late Edition that the allegations were being investigated "vigorously." "If it turns out to be true, obviously we will take action against those responsible," he said.
ANOTHER FINE EXAMPLE!!!

*No, I don't believe so. Unfortunately there are those in this land that have Delusions of Grandeur. There are some on these boards that believe that their opinion is the only one that matters. There are those here that want to bash a man, Family or Political Party, for all short-comings they perceive they could correct. There are those that aspire to be politicians, and those that have attempted to become politicians, that could not get elected. If they know so much more than the rest of us, then why are they still not Politicians, effecting the changes they "Know" have to be undertaken. Could it be because they have spewed their own "Know It All" agenda over the many in their own communities that the community is sick of hearing it. (If they agreed or believed them they would be in office). No instead, they take to these forums to spew their bullshit in the attempt to prove to the masses how much smarter they are then us. In order to effect change, you need to believe in the complexity of change. You don't sit in you Ivory Tower and continue to tell everyone that, "What you say is the only way", that "your opinion is the only opinion with validity", That everyone that disagrees with your position is "wrong or Petty". Some of the most influential people in the world are those that have an open mind. ML Cudd, since you wrote this in my post, I have to wonder if you were referring to me. |

LOL! I'm sorry guys if you think everything these news organization say are gospel your in a sad state. I'm always willing to be convinced, but it has to be real. Hey DB, Your last statement clarifies the fact that you have an open mind, as many of us here do. And you hit the nail right dead on the head...There is one here that believes everything in print, and must repeat it over and over again. Most of us using these boards are adults and most of us read very well. Considering the state of the Nation over the past few years, most of us know all the Good, Bad and Ugly news. We just don't need it rehashed here as if we all are idiots, or illiterate. All of us here with the exception of the Holder Of All Knowledge on the Ivory Throne, are blind, deaf and dumb, and need to be told what our beliefs are to be.. Be careful what you say here DB...The WIZARD OF WORDS, might single you out also. Respectfully, Rocky www.boincsynergy.com |
