> > what i think is the the Maxtor get pretty hot.. > I have several HD's around this place and the worst for generating heat is my Quantum Fireball Plus KA (it's also makes the most noise and sounds like a turbocharger when it's winding up). It seems to be appropriately called a Fireball as it gets pretty hot. The coolest temperature drive I run is a Maxtor 7200 Diamond Max HD which is in one of my PC's now. The most tempramental is a Western Digital HD and is in my primary computer now. It runs rather cool but I swear WD miscoded the HD as a fast drive when it really is probably a slower drive. It is the only HD I have that I have to reconfigure and find in the BIOS every time I do a cold boot. No other HD I have causes that problem. To truly explore, one must keep an open mind... |

> my P4 3.2 has Temps under Full Load Boinc about 60 Degrees..with a Silent > Headsink > Ulli... that's a good temp for a low-noise cooling system. Heck, a Prescott under full-load doesn't even start to get comfy till it gets above 60°C. LOL. If i'm not mistaken, they don't start throttling till they get to about 70°C or so, right? I dunno, i haven't pushed mine that far yet. ;) Dig |

Hi ya'll :-) My laptop (AMD Athlon XP2000+ 1.66GHz w/1GB RAM HD:Toshiba MK4021GAS) is running between 44-45. I've got a "Targus" dual fan "Coolpad" underneath. No matter where you go, there you are...

> Seagate ST340015A > 24°C > > this is pretty cool, do you have an extra Case or extra Cooling Fans... > and say if you you using extra watercooling Sets.. > Stock cooling, no additional fans, etc. Bear in mind though that the Seagate ST340015A is a 5400 RPM drive so it's going to be cooler (and slower) than most everyone else's. Also it's mounted vertically right in front of the front inlet, so it gets more cooling than any other part of my machine. I did download and install Speedfan to regulate my CPU and exhaust fans. Just bumping the RPM's up slightly keeps my processor pretty cool for a Prescott. About 55°C under full load, 24/7. Dig |
