Once again, too little, IMO.

I'm sorry for continuing this conversation, but I hate bad information getting out there without it being corrected.

You're confusing the issue. China isn't trying to block people from hotlinking their images through these anonymizing systems. China is trying to stop people from browsing *other* people's sites through them.

All the use of the anonymouse.ws link does is hide the IP address (and other information such as the user agent) from your server logs. It doesn't forge the REFERER header... to be sure, I did a test. I accessed my sig graphic through anonymouse.ws and watched my server logs:
82.96.100.100 - - [17/Apr/2005:21:22:00 +0000] "GET / HTTP/1.0" 200 18390 "-" "http://@nonymouse.com/ (Unix)"

Note nowhere in there does it list sigs.axpr.net as a referer... it in fact lists "-" as the referer.

To filter out these hotlinkings *THAT* is what you need to filter on. Filter out everything except brainsmashr.com URLs for referrers and nobody can see any of the graphics on your site unless they're linked to *from your site.* Problem solved, case closed.

As explained above, this does not readily relate to your situation. You aren't trying to block people from viewing your entire site from these boards, only your images. Images will (essentially) always have a referer of the page they are linked from, so you can simply filter on that, as I tried to explain above. Think of the anonymizing site as a red herring thrown up to confuse the issue.

I don't know how else to explain this concept, but will try to come up with something new if you still don't quite have a grasp of what the issue is and how to resolve it.

OK dumbass lets do this in a way you can hopefully understand - block setiweb.ssl.berkely.edu You don't need to block every proxy server in the world.

Futhermore if you want these so-called attacks to stop prehaps you should consider while you keep posting where you are not wanted they will continue.. Go away and maybe these alledged attacks will stop.

Was that clear enough?

OK Rob, we might as well not keep it a secret anymore. In Apache what BSR needs to do is add "Indexes" to the Options line. That will solve everything.

If some troll tries to f*** with my profile, I'm gonna kick some puter ass! [edit] And don't think that I can't get data from an anonymous proxy server, I've done it before [/edit]

To be fair, I do run two sites (one of which has been offline since December) that aren't W3C compliant... the one that's still online is BBugs, and that's because it is somebody else's very messy code I based it around. Gotta find the time, I guess... sometime.... :-)

Whenever I write content by hand, however, I always make sure it's valid (X)HTML. It's not like it is horribly difficult to do as you're going along.

Something tells me BSR still lives at home with his parents. I guess renting a swamp shack is more expensive than I thought.

@ Rob. Rob this might be off topic, but since you seem to keep up with programming, I was wondering if you could tell me where to find a download of RapidQ. I can't seem to find a download anywhere -- it's like it just disappeared from the web or something. I'd really appreciate some info on this if you got any.

Then who's responsible for the code on this site? :)

Thanks Captain Avatar, but all the download links seem to be dead at the latter, and I don't understand Italian enough to find the download at the Italian site.

Nice to know your dad's email addr still works. I'll have to drop him a line. As will everyone else.

Considering that the site would be killed the instant the account was closed just shows how business saavy you really aren't.

I also understand that Feb 22, 1971 was a very dark day in history.
