That by itself is animal cruelty since they amputate the toes to do it. It would be like amputating the end of your fingers and toes (at the last knuckle) to get rid of your nails. Bone, ligaments, everything...

Okay, I see your point, and it makes sense I guess. I'm not suggesting that you would accociate with any kind of animal cruelty, and I agree with your references of animal cruelty. I'm more worried about stray people than stray cats -- hehe. Many people let their cats out a lot so they can hunt, and that's good for rat and mice probs in populated areas. It's even better when there are stray cats out chasing down and eating problem rats and mice. There is good and bad though: From Encarta:

Cats that are allowed outside have some degree of freedom and independence, and may enjoy hunting small animals and interacting with other cats; they get plenty of exercise and are unlikely to become bored or lonely. The outdoors, however, poses many hazards to cats, even in rural areas. I think that someone can come up with diferrent conclusions from this article about what's best for cats.

Frankly I would like to see them trapped and put down.

There is a mass overpopulation of Cats in the wild
who produce faster that domesticated Cats.

Wild cats is one thing, but if this was to become law, then even pets could be killed. This is from the WSTM story: Under the proposal, any stray cat could be shot, even a household pet without a collar that is outside of its owner's control.

Not a redneck, just one that is far from the brighest bulb on the sting...
I mean she doesn't consider "redman" and a bud a kitty treat!


I do think it wouldn't have worked if I got her after a certain point, as wild cats after a certain point don't learn things that domestic cats understand (like the litter box thing)

When I got the feral cat, there were 2 other older cats in the house that kept it in check! (one played "mom cat")

There was a case, in just the last week, here in Phx, where a couple had something over 100 dogs/cats in their yard. The authories found out about it, and all but 4 animals had to be put to sleep, as they were in such poor shape. Maybe not shoot the owners, but put them in jail!

I'll admit that she's not the smartest cat I've ever seen, but she's cool.. (It took her a few years to understand that I was the same person standing up as sitting and would hide for hours if the ceiling fans are on)

No doubt about getting them fixed, but in 10 years, my feral cat has never been outside my back yard (when outside). She may not know that she can climb over the block wall!

I really doubt that the new law would have hunters in the streets of Milwaukee gunning down cats. I'm sure this law is meant for rural areas, as most towns/cities prohibit hunting. In cities, the "dog catcher" just catches them and puts them to sleep after 72 hours.
