I'm starting to love this new BOINC system and how it will allow one to work other BOINC projects. Trouble is I'm unable to locate any. I do know Berkley created the system, but would any of you know if and when anyone else will be able to come up with other projects so it can come to its full advantage? |

There is currently one project in public Alpha http://predictor.scripps.edu. Astro Pulse (AP) is scheduled to begin work again soon, if it has not already. Climate Prediction.Net (CPDN) is rumored to either be in a private alpha, or starting one soon by invitation only. Folding @ Home F@H is rumored to be in a wait and see mode. There are several other rumors, but none substantiated. There is the BOINC Beta test (currently off, but will restart when there is some code to test. There is also the BOINC Alpha test open by invatation only that is testing 3.20 of the BOINC core client. You may download the latest CC, but it is at your own risk. There have been some really nasty mistakes that the Alpha team has caught (and a few that they haven't). |

Does anyone know when Astropulse will become available? |

I don't have the skills needed to compile any A test programs. My skills in that area stopped with the need to machine code 80XX chips. If you find that one is ready to be worked on a pure D-load basis would you please try to remember to contact me or something? I'll hold until they work it out I can do that with less risk and spend less time in repair mode. Thanks for getting back so soon also. Is there a posted list as to “what†and “stage†of current programs? I never found one in SETI. I think such a link would be helpful with big caution flags applied. Anyone else have a view on that? |

Nasty mistakes wouldn't be a good thing. <a> [/url] |

Anyone else have a view on > that? Paul Buck is trying to keep a list on his site at http://homepage.mac.com/pauldbuck/index.html You'll find the relevant page under 'BOINC Powered Projects'. Paul Buck's pages deserve a bookmark anyway, and you could try visiting regularly to see what else is happening. Whether Berkeley will be able to post a reliable and updated list themselves in the near future I rather doubt. There is a big documentation deficit on their site and they have plenty else on their minds. The news I have heard on Climate Prediction, for those interested, is that a new alpha version should be available shortly for private testing, but the public Beta seems to be a while off. I agree with Robert Siedentoft that such things are not for the fainthearted - the model takes 3-4 weeks even on a fast machine and having it crash because of some unexpected bug can be very frustrating. |
