Hi everyone, I've been reading the postings and visited ATI site, as my driver is old to, I noticed that there are only 2 updates for ATI 9600 series, a) 9600D ; b) 9600DE, but nothing for 9600D Ultra Pro cards (9600DU). It may be possible that some of you may have updated their graphics cards with the wrong driver. I would advise all who have updated their divers to re-install the original diver, To prevent damage to the graphics chip, and contact ATI for the correct driver if any. I am using an IBM Thinkpad T41 with info below. I was using the latest SETI software and then the latest BOINC 4.25. When the screen saver goes on it kills the computer with a black screen. The computer will not turn off or on. I need to remove the battery for many minutes, then reinsert to get it to restart. A short removal of the batter doen't work. I did instal Microsoft ClearType from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx I suspect this may have something to do with the problem but don't want to take anymore chances. I was having this problem, and decided to try a few things. Of all things, that I tried, the one that made the screen saver work, was unchecking the "On resume, password protect" box. Everything works fine as long as that box is not checked. This solution may not work for everyone, but it worked for me. Hopefully you can use this info to fix the problem.
