3D RAGE PRO AGP 2X
Driver Version5.1.2001.0
WIN XP PRO SP2
Bonic 4.25
setiathome 4.09

When the screensaver comes on, the screen just goes black, when you move the mouse it doesn't come back, you have to push a key to get it to come back. Didn't do this with the old version.

Thanks.

Hi everyone,
I've been reading the postings and visited ATI site, as my driver is old to, I noticed that there are only 2 updates for ATI 9600 series, a) 9600D ; b) 9600DE, but nothing for 9600D Ultra Pro cards (9600DU).

It may be possible that some of you may have updated their graphics cards with the wrong driver. I would advise all who have updated their divers to re-install the original diver, To prevent damage to the graphics chip, and contact ATI for the correct driver if any.

I am using an IBM Thinkpad T41 with info below. I was using the latest SETI software and then the latest BOINC 4.25. When the screen saver goes on it kills the computer with a black screen. The computer will not turn off or on. I need to remove the battery for many minutes, then reinsert to get it to restart. A short removal of the batter doen't work.

I did instal Microsoft ClearType from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

I suspect this may have something to do with the problem but don't want to take anymore chances.

ATI Radeon 9700 Driver 6.14.10.6525 Dated 14.03.2005
128 MBytes

ati2dvag.dll
ati2mtag.sys

Windows XP Home SP2

Boinc version 4.19 All applications - SETI 4.09, Climateprediction 4.12 - works well and displays well. SETI 4.10 also worked well untill it was pulled.

Boinc version 4.25 - SETI 4.09 works well and displays well, but Climateprediction 4.12 does not show graphics.

Currently use Boinc 4.19 until problem is fixed

I was having this problem, and decided to try a few things. Of all things, that I tried, the one that made the screen saver work, was unchecking the "On resume, password protect" box. Everything works fine as long as that box is not checked. This solution may not work for everyone, but it worked for me. Hopefully you can use this info to fix the problem.

BOINC version : 4.37
SETI version : 4.09
Einstein version : 4.79

Processors: Dual P3 700 MHz
Memory : 256MB Registered ECC PC100
Display : ATI all-in-wonder 7200 AGP
Driver version : 6.14.10.6483
BIOS information : 113-73701-101 AIW Samsung/Micron DDR
RAID Controller : Promise Technologies FastTrak 66 (PDC20262)
Driver: V 1.30 Build 33 (Win 2000 PDC20262 Driver)

Hard Drives : ATA33 : (1) WDC AC310100B
Stripe set : (1) IBM-DJNA-371350

SETI graphics and screensaver display work fine on BOINC 4.19 thru 4.37.
Einstein graphics display with BOINC version 4.19 but not with later builds.

Note: I know the Promise controller isn't on the list of devices supported by XP but I've been running it with the Windows 2000 drivers since the release of XP and have never had a single problem.
