You don't need 24 hour access online. What you should do before complaining like this is to really look at the preferences section of your account and there you have,(more than Classic, I'm assuming by the tone of things), the opportunity to tweak the settings to your particular tastes. You can not only decide when BOINC will run but also at the times and if you want to crunch offline, you can up your cache to d/l more workunits and then when BOINC is running, you simply can choose "Disable BOINC Network Access". This will allow you to work on the units you have without constantly having to log on.

Don't be too hasty just because you don't understand what's going on. The forum is here for you to ask questions but when you add "If so, say good-bye" to your message, the response you're more likely to get is "so what? Don't let the door hit your a$$ on the way out".

I can't be sure about this, but I think that you can set a time for when BOINC does work. You can do this in your Account settings under Edit General Preferences, Processor, and specify the hours you want BOINC to work under: Do work only between the hours of. You can also just right-click the BOINC icon in your system tray and select Exit. You can start it again whenever you want.
