it worked. I had to attach to the project first and let boinc create all its necessary files, then copy the old files over. Otherwise boinc would freeze.

No, no need to do it like this. Here are the things you have to copy over to proceed where you ended with the old setup:

contents of projects and slots durectories
all .xml files from main directory

After you start the boinc client, everything should proceed ...

What could be done is the following:

1. Keep the backup of your old Boinc folder,
2. Uninstall the fresh installed Boinc and delete anything left afterwards,
3. Copy the backup of Boinc at the location where you had it before,
4. Reinstall Boinc on top of that location, using the same version as the original one,
5. Run Boinc.

Hi,

because of the seti server outage I was unable to report the finished WUs before I reinstalled the OS, so I backupped the whole boinc folder. After installing the new OS and a fresh install of boinc I would like to report all the old WUs. Does anyone know which (old)files to be copied into the (new)boinc folder?. Replacing the whole content crashes boinc.
