So IT WORKS! Here is the solution:
Apply all patches to the operating system. After I did it I got this output after I started boinc_client:
2005-05-06 20:19:49 [---] Starting BOINC client version 4.32 for hppa1.1-hp-hpux11.11
2005-05-06 20:19:49 [---] Running CPU benchmarks

Slavko,
What patches did you apply?
I just patched my system with December 2004 Support Plus media (my distribution has not sent me anything newer yet). I installed the Hardware Enablement (HWE), and am up to date on the Gold Quality Pack (QPK) from that media. Am still having problems, but am working now on the different libraries.

Hard to say which patches did I apply.
Since we have internal depot server in the organisation I'm working for, I just install all patches for 11.11 from depot and rebootet the box. I'm not HP-UX guru. Probably some logs are somewhere (I used swinstall and depot from network)? I can provide them.

I am tested the client and app successful with HPUX 11.0 and Quality Pack (QPK) and Hardware Enablement Patches (HWE) from March 2004 .
And with 11i with GoldPack (GPK) and HWE from Dec. 2004.

Resulting at Slavos issue, I am interested in the patchlevels of the systems. Does someon have a successfull running client, with a less patchlevel than my tested ?

I sent all installed patches to Dotsch by email. After installing them, it started to work. If somebody need that, ask me - slavko.sk@gmail.com. I'm sorry that I can not help more with patch level.

Hello,

I had also the problem with "SIGSEGV" on one system, an an other worked fine.
After reading this discussion, I installed also pathes from an internal depot and after this it worked. I do not know which patch solved the problem, but I can generate a list of patches I installed today. By the way - is there a method to increase the number of CPUs? I want to use more then one, but I am not able to compile the stuff.

Sure there is that possibility but it should be recompiled becauce not it is hardcoded. Dotsch know more about it. I also have 2GB memory and it is using just 1GB but it should be enough.

Can you mail me please whih patches you have installed, and which bundles you have installed ?
Which HPUX Release do you use ?

I had some problems to compile the hostinfo_unix.C, the methods used to read out the timezone, cpu, memory did not worked. So i hardcodes this settings.
I reported the errors. But I will check the cvs for changes.
Can you try to set <p>1</p> in the client_state.xml to your values ?

I changed memory to 2GB and it goes back to 1GB in client_state.xml, I think, it's same with procesor count.
BTW.: SETI@home app is 4.07 version, how it looks like with 4.09?

It results from the hard coded vaules in the hostinfo_unix.C.
If you have 2 CPUs, only way I know is to let two ore more indipendend boinc/seti instances run.

I had realy problems to compile the seti app....
In some newer versions was some bugs. Resulting from this (at this time) not fixed bugs I go back to 4.07.

Hello Ronald,

I have applied the source code changes, posted from HPC Praque, for the CPU detection.
But I have some problems with his code for the memory detection, but posted him..

If you (or anyone else) wan't to test the new binary, write me a email.
If the fix is ok, I will update it on the donwloadpage.

Hello Lars,

if I change the value in the client_state.xml manualy, it will be overwritten with the hard coded value, when I restart the client. Values for vendor and model will not be overwritten. If I try to run a second boinc client in an other directory, it fails, but I wouldnt like it.
The patches: I installed arround 250 single patches - it was an internal depot.
The other system, where it worked has a patch level of Dec 2003! but in addition two patches were installed: PHSS_30970 (ld) and PHSS_31221 (HPaC++ libs).
If you want, I can send the list of all 250 patches - do you realy want?

Hello Lars,

I think the memory size is not very important, but the number of CPUs sets the numer of simultaneous running seti processes. Can you give me the information, where I can find the new binary, I would like to test it.
