Seti devplovers say, that it is OK. So I the HPUX Binary will be alialable in some days for download. Lars |

Hello ! I have the HPUX 11.x boinc client with the seti app successfull compiled and tested. The results from reference wu are correct. The client was compiled on HPUX 11.11 (11i) on and for PA RISC. But it should also run on HPUX 11.x on PARISC and Itanium (IA64). The client and app ist downloadable at http://www.lb.shuttle.de/apastron/boincDown.shtml. Lars |

The link doesn't seem to work. Moreover you should try to store your well done work here: http://hpux.asknet.de/ The Porting and Archieving Center for HP-UX should be best bet. For the meantime we should find another site. How much MB are the packages ? |

I suspect when you copied the address you also copied the period at the end. 98SE XP2500+ @ 2.1 GHz Boinc v5.8.8 And God said"Let there be light."But then the program crashed because he was trying to access the 'light' property of a NULL universe pointer. |

Now it works. Cool site ! The seti-project should create a Hall of Fame for dotsch and all other programmers who contributed useful software and especially clients for different plattforms to the project. Keep up the good work ! |

Many thanks to Dotsch for blazing the trail! Please excuse if I am doing something stupid, but I can't even get this to un-tar. Getting directory checksum errors. Am downloading from the web site http://www.lb.shuttle.de/apastron/boincDown.shtml I am certain of: - using binary ftp transmission - attempted to gunzip as well as un-tar - attempted to unshar also Can't even get the checksum to untar. Has anyone else successfully uncompressed and installed? Many thanks, dean |

Hi ! > - attempted to gunzip as well as un-tar You need bzip to uncompress it. You will find a binary version at the HPUX Porting Centre (for example hpux.asknet.de). There are a lot off mirrors worldwide. > - attempted to unshar also > > Can't even get the checksum to untar. > > Has anyone else successfully uncompressed and installed? Yes ;-) Lars |

There are a lot off mirrors > worldwide. Thanks Lars. Got the bzip2, and have decompressed successfully. Is there a way to specify a proxy server? I don't see it in the run switches. Tried -proxy but that is not recognized. I'm getting a SIGSEGV segment violation, which others have reported on other compiles (and reminded me about my network) that could be caused if a proxy is needed. Thanks, dean |

Lars, Am still getting SIGSEGV violations, even before the client_state.xml is set up. I'm running this on a PA-RISC D370 server, single-CPU with 1GB RAM. Perhaps I'm a little confused about the different packages for download. It seems the libraries are different between what is included in the all-inclusive package, and what comes with the boinc client only or the library package. Should the result be the same with the individual downloads as with the all-inclusive package? Also, I'm unable to set or export the SHLIB_PATH: # export SHLIB_PATH=/usr/local/lib:$SHLIB_PATH sh: SHLIB_PATH: Parameter not set. Sorry to be clogging up this thread. If necessary, let me know how to PM you and we can take this offline. Best, dean |

Hi ! > Am still getting SIGSEGV violations, even before the client_state.xml is set > up. I'm running this on a PA-RISC D370 server, single-CPU with 1GB RAM. Which binary do you use ? the 32 bit or the 64 bit ? Is your machine 32 or 64 bit ? (getconf KERNEL_BITS) > Perhaps I'm a little confused about the different packages for download. It > seems the libraries are different between what is included in the > all-inclusive package, and what comes with the boinc client only or the > library package. Should the result be the same with the individual downloads > as with the all-inclusive package? The inclusive package is 64 Bit boinc client and the 64 bit seti app with the libs. You will need the boinc client (is for 32 and 64 Bit), the libraries for the boinc client and seti apps (32 and 64 Bit), and the seti app package for 32 or 64 bits. > Also, I'm unable to set or export the SHLIB_PATH: > # export SHLIB_PATH=/usr/local/lib:$SHLIB_PATH > sh: SHLIB_PATH: Parameter not set. use : SHLIB_PATH=/usr/local/lib:$SHLIB_PATH export SHLIB_PATH > Sorry to be clogging up this thread. Hello all HP-UX guys. I finally discovered this thread. I have the same problems, installed but receiving SIGSEGV violation. As I wrote in another thread, repeating here ti have it in one place: @Dotsch: please reply here Some cmdlines outputs: # uname -a HP-UX xxxxx B.11.11 U 9000/785 2011824895 unlimited-user license # getconf KERNEL_BITS 64 ... so far so good. Hardware is HP 9000 C3600 workstation with PA-RISC 8600 2.0 64 bits processor. enviroment variables: SHLIB_PATH=/usr/local/lib HTTP_PROXY=http://my.proxy.server.com:8080 after attaching to project, account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml file was created: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and nothing more, SIGSEGV violations occured. Installed binaries from boinc_seti_pa2.0-hpux11.tar.bz2, both boinc client 64 bits and seti@home app 64 bits and I put libraries into /usr/local/lib with rigth chmod and I hope everything, as is written in README file. So, I hope I put everything here what is necessary. Please help, box is too cold and need some heating. slavko@slavko.sk ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD! Potrebujete pomoc? My Stats |

I found one thing: Budled libz.sl library is: libz.sl: PA-RISC1.1 shared library so I took another one from another Dotsch bundle: libz.sl: PA-RISC2.0 shared library I assumed I need everything for PA-RISC2.0 sonce app are for that. But there is another library: libpthread.sl: PA-RISC1.1 shared library But no 2.0 version bundled ... Can be that the problem? ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD! Potrebujete pomoc? My Stats |

I did not find libpthread.sl for PA-RISC2.0. Maybe some patch should be installed? I'm canceling investigation in this area for now and waiting for some reply here in thread. |

Hello ! <blockquote>I did not find libpthread.sl for PA-RISC2.0. Maybe some patch should be installed? I'm canceling investigation in this area for now and waiting for some reply here in thread.</blockquote> The libpthread is in /usr/lib/... But, templeofdoom has the same problems like you. I think it is a problem with the libpthread in the "all in one" package (boinc_seti_pa2.0-hpux11.tar.bz2). Please, can you test the sepearated boinc 32+64, seti app 64 bit, and the libs for 32 and 64 bit. This are newer compiled, without the libptread. Regards Lars |

Please may you specify exactly form which tar files install it? EDIT: If I used boinc_client from boinc-hpux_32+64.tar.gz then I got these error: /usr/lib/dld.sl: Unresolved symbol: pthread_once (code) from /usr/local/lib/libgcc_s.sl SIGABRT: abort called Exiting... I installed also seti-bonic-hpux_libs_32+64.tar.gz libraries ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD! Potrebujete pomoc? My Stats |
