I currently have eight hosts attached to the seti@home project. Everything seems to work nicely.

However I try now for two days to attach two more hosts to the project.
It failed every time with an error message: "Wrong user ID"
This is simply impossible since all the other hosts could be attached with the same ID.

Did anybody had success to attach more hosts in the last days?
Is there a limit of hosts per User ID?
Or is it simply a temporary problem that the server does not accept more users?

Would be great if anybody could shed some light on this issue.

hi Chris,

had exactly the same problem. Some PC are crunching some are waiting
and some I could not "attach" to seti2. I did it several time,
reading messages from other clients of my, where running ok,
to exclude server based problems

I hat a Problem with one of the installation (running fine for far)
the BOINC was ok but the SETI part was distached. I could re-attache but,
==> got a new ID. In the preferences there was shown a new PC identical. I could not delete the first one, message : results where pending.

==> now I merged this 2 idential PC, aftherwards, I was able to attach 3 more PC to SETI2.

I MY case this way solved the problem of adding aditional hosts.

take a look in your "computers" under your account datas, maybe you will also see a copy of an existing PC.

goodluck

please remember, they DO still have a lot of problems....

Richard

Hi Richi

Seems to be quite a procedure....
I think I let the two machines just continue with the classic client until things run smoother. Maybe it is only a server issue.

Thanks anyway for your tip.

Happy crunching!

Now everything works I was able to attach to more hosts to my account.
Seems that the server was not accepting more for some time.

And the best is that work units stream in nicely as I post. ;-)

It was likely just server congestion. One way you can attach even with the server down is to copy the account....xml file from a working computer to the new computer. A client restart is needed then it will pick up the account and will get running as soon as the server is back up (excluding back-off times if applicable).
