The WU issue is a problem for quite a few people at the moment.

Until more WU's become available I suggest either S@H classic or predictor (http://predictor.scripps.edu/index.php) which is beta testing BOINC and seems to be progressing nicely.

I currently have the same problem.
Over the weekend it was possible to attach to the project.

For two days now it is not possible to join.
Reading all posts in this direction I have to draw the conclusion that the part allowing to join the project is currently out of order. :-(

Predictor seems to work flawless, so this is certainly an option as ehaven mentioned.
