Sandy Denny - The North Star Grassman and the Ravens, Crazy Lady Blues and Late November

For me she was one of the greatest singers and songwriters earth had ever born - unfortunately she had to leave much too early...

VALE Tabby (Tabitha)
Thank you for our friendship of 30 years
Though our last 8 years have been phone and email only, I think of you every day.
I'm sorry I couldn't be there.
Thank you for the toy cat, it will be with me for ever, just like you are.
Finally your pain is over.
R.I.P
I Love you.
Red.

Thanks Fuzzy,
Even though I knew it was close, and had time to prepare, it still hurts so much.
My world is so much smaller today.

Thanks Fuzzy,
Even though I knew it was close, and had time to prepare, it still hurts so much.
My world is so much smaller today.

Death never comes expected, no matter how "expected" it is. Yes, the loss can be overwhelming. Allow me to quote from Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet the chapter about death. It has helped me when I have lost dear ones.

On Death

Then Almitra spoke, saying, "We would ask now of Death."

And he said:

You would know the secret of death.

But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?

The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light.

If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.

For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.

In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond;

And like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring.

Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.

Your fear of death is but the trembling of the shepherd when he stands before the king whose hand is to be laid upon him in honour.

Is the shepherd not joyful beneath his trembling, that he shall wear the mark of the king?

Yet is he not more mindful of his trembling?

For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?

And what is to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.

And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.

And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

Red, this text helped me a lot when I lost a very good friend of mine, Rocky.

For my new friend Red Atomic, love comes in many shapes and sizes and can make us feel so much. Joy and Pain, High and low. It can make you feel 100 feet tall or smaller than a grain of sand. We can love people, places and even things. I chose these songs for the emotions they convey if not necessarily the lyrics.

Crying

Your Eyes

Power of Love

Only You

Red, remember all the good times and how your loved one made you feel.

With love and respect,
Paul

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go, yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

(Christina Rosetti 1879)

In deepest sympathy, Red Atomic
