LOL

This is a bit like the good old days...

As I got into the office this morning the were Several machines sitting there in withdrawal... Man don't the Scientists understand how tough it is on a Computer to sit there and do NOTHING? Esp... when it has worked its little butt off 24/7 for years...

Man it Brought Tears to My eyes, just listening the little ticky sounds and seeing the CPU Idle... I hope it did not break anything. I have seen drug addicts that were more responsive...

So the Human side aside... The Computers suffer the most! Sitting there with Nothing to do! They were designed to work and do what mankind told them to do... Now mankind, which kept them Happily Busy just took it all away... How Cruel!

It makes me want to start a Foundation, Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Computers. I try to keep all mine busy and happy.

I find it both good and bad that you can post here and no one wil beat you up... Most that are here are only interested in moving Seti ahead.. No silly games.. Just Science...

If that does not panic you, then I am not sure what will...

LOL!

I just so happens I have been having "one of those days." Nothing seems to be going right; all machines have locked up or crashed and each peice of equipment has gone wonky. I had the feeling if I stepped outside I would get beaten up by a 12 year old girl.

Tomorrow is another day and perhaps SETI Beta will be back on track and we can all be happy again.

At least I can hope...

Perhaps it is time to panic. My P4 1.8 died and I "repaired" it with an AMD64 X2 4800, and have been cycling that through the projects collecting samples. I'm just over an hour away from running out of work on Proteins at home. From my data below, guess which project was supposed to be next?

I have 'only' 7 results to report on 2 PC (still 3 in work), then SetiBeta runs dry :(
Restart systems

Happy crunching...;)

Front page news:

October 31, 2006
We are trying to identify the cause of the 'software problem' that the server is reporting. Might not get back up until tomorrow afternoon. Sorry....

Looks like they'll lose my wus. Oh well...

Go Figure

The PII 350 only does Seti Beta and it just finished... It got a "Short Result" and finished in 25 hours...

Hahahaha

No New Word about the fix...

This is more like the "Old Outages."

The PII 350 waits patiently, wondering when It can return the Result. It worked for 25 hours to get that result.
* With a RAC of 45 does it really matter?

Hummm is that a reason to panic?

Oh well, 500 miles from my cruncher. Guess it'll just have to keep banging the server trying to report and download till I get home tomorrow night LOL.

Never seems to fail that these things happen at the most inopertune times (I think a guy named Murphy had something to say on the subject) ;-)

You should still get credit as long as you get the result in before the quorum is met.

The pool of "Ready to send" has shrunk by nearly half, and I've just gotten a couple. Congrats to the project!

Timed just right, got new work at 02:29. Last unit in cache, during outage, completed at 03:31.

See there was no reason to panic, get a little bit edgy maybe.
