I've heard rumours it's Tuesday now. I'll need to fact check that still.

I tried out a new avatar first though and now I'm going to untry it... :/

edit: except I forgot I no longer have the original one on the computer :( ohhhhhh dung...

.. wonder how many people will still be able to post by the time this thread comes to an end - some of you are looking a little low, and the work has currently dried up :-(

It is a bit radioactive-half-life-time isn't it...?

I know WHAT the event is, and more or less WHEN the event is, but the exact details will only emerge on the day of the event itself.....

(And if you think I'm being obtuse then you are correct in your assumption)

"230/240" is the nominal supply range. In the UK the working nominal is 230V, with a tolerance of +10%, -6% (+23v, -14V) applied to the, thus the upper "allowed" voltage is 253Vac. All measurements being based on RMS at 50Hz , not peak to peak (which of course is much higher). So Anniet's equipment, assuming it is properly compliant with the UK regulations, is OK at 249V.

(In days of yore the UK supply was 240V, +/-6%, so the upper limit was 254V, and the lower 226V, which meant at harmonisation the UK power supply controllers didn't really have to do anything to comply as they were already within tolerance, albeit at the upper end of the range which is 207V to 253V - I am almost certain one or two European countries had to crank up their supplies to get up to the lower limit, but that's another story.)

I read somewhere we were supposed to get a thunderstorm last night. Well all we got was about one raindrop smeared through all the air that was hanging about the place, which I thought was quite disappointing. I don't suppose that was the unpredictable event...?

I guess that football is not coming home at all.
Belgium-England as of now 2-0. Only a few minutes left of the bronze match.

if any male umpire call ed me love he'd get a punch on the nose
I think if one did he'd be unstable enough as it is...

;)

The scoring makes more sense if you look into the early history of the game. I used to be quite good at tennis :) Mostly because I was left-handed and it confused people. I never got to play another left hander though :/ That would have been a fun acid test :)

edit: Irrespective of who finished where - it was a very good world cup I thought, so well done everyone everywhere!
