We've run out of 20p pieces to light the snooker table :(
Mists of dreams drip along the nascent echo, and love no more.

End of line.

Retiring to Frothy Tops early today, because it's wet outside and I might as well get wet inside....

Bowel movements is what I've most noticed the word being used for over here, Chris.

So I do like the way Americans use it. It sounds somehow better than "ordinary" or "average" which tends to be our equivalent of their meaning (I think?).

It took me quite awhile to learn to adjust all of my terminology after I came to England, so as not to amuse/bemuse the locals, even the friendly ones, whenever I opened my mouth.

Just don't anyone get me started on "'erbs"

;)

The word you are looking for is normal Annie.
Is it? *tangle brow half way up nose* Oh okay.

Does it work as well as "regular" though when applied to people? I mean... are there any for a start? One person's normal doesn't necessarily mean it's the next person's, it could well be their insane. And the standard of measurement drifts with time and with place. Isn't it just that when there's sufficient overlap between enough people to construct the illusion that something about them might be normal, we just say "oh that's normal" so we can stop thinking and go back to telepathing the lemon tree on the corner?

...green things that you plant, cut, and sling in salads?
Yes, them. It was a bit ambiguous, wasn't it? And these --> "" probably didn't help. I'd intended them as speech marks rather than "inverted commas". .. to convey the difference in the pronunciation. Now I have got started on about it after all ... are there any other words that begin with h but that don't when actually being said, in Americanlish? And would absolutely all of that word's derivatives do the same? Here we have quite a few places where it disappears off the front of words too, but when they do - it's much more of a general massacre of all of them, not just a decapitation of a select one or two.

...all they've done is to refuse to spell Engish properly...
*slowly,

blink*... they're um... not really alone in that...

;)

*read the word protectorate again on way out and... snort all over planet*

Er, um, ooops. Most of us are emailing the Oak tree in the local park, and texting the cat at No.37.
Yes... we know.
