My phones battery was stuck at 18% for an hour and a half while charging, glad I noticed it needed plugging in.

I thought that PDF's were old hat because they never really took off?

?
we never included PDFs, up to now we always distributed as .txt files. However, since most documentation seems to be coming in PDF format these days, we are adding a PDF version of the txt files. maybe a few more people then actually read the stuff...

:-D Been there, done that. Amazing how much better things work when they are plugged in, and if you then bother to switch them on - wow ;-)

Do you US guys have 'plug fuses' too?
Now, that's a confusing concept to a German! (and we still have some fuse wire for those little ceramic fuse holders...)

We have GFCI Breaker Outlets. Instead of popping a main circuit breaker in the panel, the breaker pops at the outlet. It is also reset at the outlet. Here in the US, these usually start at 20 Amp. breakers.

I think it's only the GFCI that pops at the outlet. A circuit overload will still pop the traditional breaker. I believe there are also GFCI breakers that will protect everything on the circuit and have to be reset at the panel.

I still have fuses in my house.

I was talking about the outlets with the Circuit Breakers in them... The GFCI Outlets; however, I was mistaken, and they do exist in 15 Amp Outlets, too.

15 Amp GFCI Outlet with Reset...

We have the 20 Amp GFCI Outlets in our house. ...and yes, the main breakers can still pop if the load is too high; but, usually with the GFCI Outlets, the Outlet pops first.

Don't believe it, put my tablet on to charge last night, or at least I thought I had. As I discovered this morning, it was plugged in but not switched on - obviously neither was I!

no I meant if the US has this:

that's a 2 to 13 amp fuse in the plug of the appliance. it usually gives first when the appliance goes, and the main circuit never trips. or both trip. anyway it's the bit you replace first. if you know about them that is...

winning.
