We'll be testing SETI@home version 7 soon, and I'd like to minimize the confusion of having two different versions of SETI@home running simultaneously.

is it possible to have a "working" server status in seti beta website starting with seti v7?

thanks a lot!
(hope that the new ati apps from lunatics will work/easily ported with v7... cause I have no nvidia atm)

What is SETI@home V7?

SETI@home will have S@h Enhanced (6.03, 6.08 - 6.10 CUDA), AstroPulse V5.05 and S@h Enhanced V7 - all simultaneously?

What's new with S@h Enhanced V7?
Which apps will be released? CPU only, also a CUDA app (which cudaX version, min driver version?)?

Thanks!

As Eric hasn't put the app on the app's page I would say no carry on.

After all he did say soon.

You can keep running your S@H workunits. I'm not going to make the mistake of trying to deploy just before the weekend. If I've done things correctly the new validator and assimilator will work on the old app as well.

As far as the status page goes, the problem is that the beta project runs on the same hosts as the main project, and the status page generator gets confused when, for example, it finds an ap_validator process that has the wrong process ID. The problem is so twisted into so much code that I don't know when I'll be able to fix it, if ever.

The only major change is the addition of a new signal type which is detected using an autocorrelation analysis. Some SETI researchers have theorized that ET would send a signal waveform, and then send a copy of the same waveform, but slightly delayed (but before the first waveform had ended). This type of waveform is easy to detect with an autocorrelation analysis, and could contain a data stream rather than just being a narrow band signal that doesn't contain data.

Now I'm confused.

SETI@home will have in future Enhanced V6.x (6.03, 6.08 - 6.10 CUDA) apps and V7 apps simultaneously?
Or the Enhanced V6.x apps will be canceled, because the SETI@home V7 apps will have the functions/search of Enhanced V6.x and additional the autocorrelation analysis?

We will see also SETI@home V7 cuda, cuda23 and cuda_fermi apps?
Or one app for all? At least which nVIDIA driver?

Thanks

This is good news.

So will there be five (5) types of signals in SETI@home 7? Will we start from the beginning (1998? 1999?) and crunch all the data again?

Will SETI@home 7 be up and running this week?

Good Morning Eric,

What is the news on v7?

Will we be seeing it after this weeks outage or is it still on hold?

I think when Eric said:

He means the stockpile of Seti_enhanced work has to be completed first, the 'Results ready to send' was at 155,000 tasks then, now down to 135,131 tasks,
since a lot of these tasks are VLAR's, they can only be done on CPU's (and ATI GPU's), since not sending VLAR's to Cuda GPU's seems to have re-enabled,
probably be quite a number of weeks before seti_enhanced tasks are completed,

Version 7 work is now flowing, there may also be some AP's or version 6 work in the pipe as well
