I hope that the Seti Enhanced will be moved into production once all the issues are resolved. From the front page, when can we expect to see an AstroPulse application?

I believe that Astropulse was carried over from the previous BETA>

I don't think that there are any plans to produce another client for Astropulse. That project is cancelled/over AFAIK.

How long until Astropulse arrives?

Don't a few screenshots of older versions of it exist?

During 24 days 93 People looked to these postinng.
This shows a big interest in AP!

In the time Seti Classic was closed, AP was finished to 90%!
So, i think it must be ready to run now.
"Must be" means not "it is", in Berkeley momently some clocks go somewhat probably differently...

It's very sad..., there must be big intern problems?!?

I spend the last weeks many time in other things, so my computings are neglected.
So AP maybe is running as a different single project and i don't know...
In this case all i wrote above is the same as this stuff the cows are loosing at their backends...

;-)

Kindly regards

The AP app is in development. There where some bugs, some which affects the science, and must me fixed before we can test it.
Please have a search over the Number Crunching forums here and on the main project for more details.

I have also waited for AP to get ready and
I'm also sad that nothing happens.

If You like You can get Test-Accounts, for other new Projects before opening for public, to use them during the waiting time.
At Spinhenge@Home (Nano-Hive and Proteins@Home) i can create them for You.

I just started running setiathome_enhanced 5.17 - this is the Astropulse beta test software, right?

Am I running software that includes new detection algorithms for Hawking's "evaporating" black holes and/or pulsars, in addition to the SETI algorithms?

Maybe I haven't been looking at the right webpages, but I have not found my way to a clear description of what this Astropulse software is all about.

Yours truly.

Hello Rinselberg. Welcome to seti beta/astropulse. I am no expert but as far as i no we are testing the work units in here before they are given out to the folks who are using seti@home. In here i think they iron out the bugs before sending the WU's out to thousands of people.

I could be compleetly wrong though. he he.

Thank you John. I wasn't expecting such a rapid response.

Here is what I was looking for - and I found it myself:

At the current time we are NOT doing Astropulse work.

Astropulse is a seperate project running under the umbrella of S@H. It was to use the same data (the original data tapes from the Arecibo telescope. The search algorithm is different as AP looks for different phenomenon.

When BOINC was still in its infancy and the dev team was still working on the S@H - BOINC software, they were also working on AP software. They realized that they were spreading themselves too thin to try to do all 3, so AP was placed on the back burner, where it has sat ever since.

I don't know how AP will be affected with the transition to the new multi-beam recorder.

Not completely, but we’re testing a new version (5.17) of the SETI@home Enhanced application, running it on the same kind of WUs—but not the very same ones—as the main project, where the current app is at v5.13–5.15 (depending on the platform).

Hi Anne,
i'm shure you know what SETI@Home is.

SETI Beta is testing the new application (client) versions bevore they are given to SETI@Home1.

In BOINC's beta-test-times we had a new and very well running test-project called Astropulse. AP used the same datas as SETI@Home but it works with another "band range" (other frequenzes) and it looks allso to find and to check out black holes.

Many tester liked Astropulse, but after the official BOINC start Berkeley put the project to bed... it's sleeping.

Now a few years later Seti is going to implant the Astropulse features to SETI@Home.
Bec. this will be testet here at first (we hope very soon ;-) ) the SETITest is renamed and called now "SETI@home/AstroPulse Beta"

There is a Astropulse Page in the BOINC (or Seti?) webside.
Sorry, i've forgotten the link.
Lil Infos in german You can get here: http://www.altes-beckhaus.com/wiki/index.php?title=Astropulse
or google "Astropulse" (must have a "berkeley.edu" inside the url)

regards from Austria
