Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Finland.

Hey Henri! :-D

Thanks for the link, I'm usually a huge Eurovision Song Contest fan, but I didn't see much of it this year.

Mostly because of the controversy about the socalled "East European Music Mafia", which has killed all kinds of fair competitions. Of course there have always been blocks, Benelux countries, the Nordic countries, the Iberian peninsula, etc. and before when it was compulsory to sing in the country's own language, non-English and non-French countries got less votes than English and French speaking countries. But it has never been so bad as this year!

So, I'm afraid that Finland, which finally won, after having had many many years with songs with bottom places, has hosted the last of the united Eurovision Song Contest. There are loud voices here saying that we won't participate anymore before it gets changed.

So let's see.

But the winning song from Serbia is good, it was fair that it won. So congratulations to Serbia.

EDIT: And, for the record, I am very unhappy about the Danish entry which didn't even make it to the finals. It was far from the best songs in the competition here, but it won because of style, a drag queen in full drag. So the accusations about style above musical quality goes for us too, and it was very fair that we were voted out of the finals!

It make no sense to vote for a good song. The east connection beats every good song!

BTW: The Swedish artist wasnt very bad.

This is what i ment.
You can have the best song in the world. When you came from a western country, you dont have a chance to pass the semi-finals, or when you did it, you will be one of the last in the finals.

BTW: There where much more worth songs, then the swedish.

Actually the finnish song made it through the semis last year and all the way up to the top.

Yeah, the worst of them all was DJ Blubous the austrian Vampire... Hiiich...

Cricket is a sport? LOL I watched it a long time ago at TV. I slept very well.

We need a Thread for real sports. Football (Soccer for our US Friends), Ice Hockey, Handball etc.

But they play football and hockey there... I don't know about handball though.
Let's be creative, there must be a german sport that is really strange. Here we have the "varpa" at least. And bandy of course.

I love cricket. I once tried to start a swedish cricket team.
But I promise to severely hurt anyone who explains the rules. The truly amazing thing with cricket is that it is totaly un-understandable.
I think that noone in the team wanted to learn the rules might have been the reason for the swedish team never really took off:-)
