April 16, 2004: Huckleberry Finds a Home

We have a dog! Sarah and I adopted Huckleberry (his shelter name was Studley) from the Berkeley Humane Society over the weekend. We've had our eye on him for a little while, and we heard that he was to be the feature dog on the pound's website, meaning he was sure to go soon if we didn't get there first--so we got there first! Huck is an absolute sweetheart of a dog. He has an enormous head (I think he's part alligator), but overall is rather low to the ground. He's a real softie, and very much a goof. He's not aggressive toward anything, he's very warm and affectionate, and he's the biggest klutz you'll ever meet. He doesn't quite know his size yet, and he occasionally will bowl right into you when he's excited to see you. We are absolutely in love with him. I've saved his feature page at the pound for sentimental value. Sarah and I have been wanting a dog for a long time, but only started looking for dogs recently because we just decided to go to Berkeley for law school/grad school and finally felt that we would be settled enough to handle one.
