Profile: Joe Lamantia

Personal background
I'm sixty eight, widowed, we had no children, retired and live in Reston, VA. Over many years while I was working full time I had the opportunity to travel the world as a data base analyst; main frames and massive systems were my forte. I know that technology is following Moore's Law and want simply to be a part of it.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have run SETI@home before several times on older personal computers. Recently I retired my Windows XP PC which I had for approximately 15 years upgrading to a iMac 27. I plan to let my older XP CPU run continuously with SETI@home until it eventually fails.

Like most of us here: I've wondered if there are other civilizations in our galaxy. The Drake equation sums it all up. Maybe or maybe not! But would it not be wonderful to find a civilization even if we could never communicate or that it; like possibly ours; has destroyed itself with it's own evolution?

As to a suggestion; let's keep hunting until the power goes off...
