Profile: MacJedi

Personal background
I'm 21 living in the exciting state of KANSAS!! I'm a student and work in school cafeterias to make money. I was using Seti many years ago on a a PC. Things didn't work out to well with that. In the cool spring of 2001 I was shown the light and now I'm a life commited mac user. Unfortunately I can't afford a nice shiny g4, but my g3 will suffice. Now I spend every waking hour battling the forces of evil to banish dos based OSs from existense. Sometimes I can be found at the local Compusa or Microcenter facing peril and adventure to open the closed eyes of computer users, one user at a time. Ok, in real life I'm just a poor college student who hates Microsuck and I'm a youth leader for 6th through 8th grade kids at my church. Most of the computers I have are 68k variants of some kind and I have them because they are cheap at computer surplus places, but still can surf the web and type papers (..and heat my room nicely...). LONG LIVE OSX!!!!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As far as SETI goes, I'm sure I'm sopposed to say that GOD created man and that we are unique to this universe. I don't agree with that. I would guess that the odds are too good for life to exist somewhere else. Chances are that the government or the illuminati have already found out about it and have pulled a blanket over our eyes. I don't get speed times with seti (ei average is 26 hours.), I don't plan to win any races. I think it's for the science and to help. Benchmarking your computer is cool and all, but the point is to find life not to race computers. Seti might be a complete waste of time. We might be looking the wrong way at the wrong frequency or we don't have the technology to be compatible, I honestly don't know the technical side of it. Finding ET would be a significant moment in human history, without a doubt. The problem I forsee is, in the end, finding ET and accepting that discovery will be two sides of a neverending battle til they either blow us up, we them, or each other. Not that I support that at all. If I were to meet ET tonight, i would ask them to take me away from this world of hate and pain. The human race has to break that mold that we live in of greed and conforming without understanding. Until then, we are controlled by our cars, televisions, clothes, fads, trends, opinions, selfishness, etc.... We look away for life, when was the last time we looked at each other?
