Personal background
hi ... I'm from Essexville MI, USA ... I'm a high school and college teacher of computer science. My hobbies include playing violin, mandolin, and guitar. I was a SETI participant many years ago and reached a status of processing 18000 units at one point in time ... because I'm teaching distributed processing concepts in a computer literacy course I was inspired to join SETI once more. My background in radio go back to the NAVY where I was a NAVMACS and HF technician by NEC. I also worked with LF, MF, HF, and VHF equipment to include transmission and Antenna coupler groups. I did a stint with Motorola as a teacher in trunked radio systems as well. Got my FCC License in Chicago.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
When I first saw the movie "Contact" the pure science of radio astronomy was close to me and understandable from a work experience view point. Having worked in satellite and radio communications for the US Navy for 20 years, I was hooked on the idea of SETI. The first signal received in that movie made my hair stand up .... !!!
