Personal background
I am a 34-year old, uneducated, self-proclaimed nerd, for the most part. I am working on becoming a social worker, so I fill my days with volunteering, school work, work for my business and my kiddies (more on them later). When not busy with those things, I watch my many hours of taped documentaries on every subject from nano-tech, to ocean life, energy, the human mind, history, the body, bugs (I love bugs), etc., read my subscriptions like "Mental Floss," "Science Illustrated," "Philosophy Now," "Discover," "Scientific American Mind" etc. or work on word and number problems in Variety Puzzle issues. I have 3 children from a marriage that lasted 10 years...but I suppose I cannot call them "children" anymore, although they will always be my babes. The oldest, Spencer is 15 and he keeps his sisters' boyfriends in line, or will when they are allowed to date. He wants to be a helicopter pilot or a farmer. Taelor is 14 and has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was 3 and that hasn't changed. Miah is 12 and wants to be a jockey and own stables for horses. She has been wanting to do so since she was 3 as well. They are very sweet kiddies, kind and compassionate, but they certainly have a back bone and I am very glad that they do. Zoey, my long-haired chihuahua, is always by my side and knows many tricks including giving hugs, high-fives, how to dance, "bring your bowl" for beer and wave bye-bye (and many more, along with all the regular tricks, of course). My favorite games are Carcassone, Puerto Rico, Whist and Smear. Music: I love all of it but unstructured jazz and techno. I love to entertain. I love debate. I am hardly ever right, but am proud that I can admit it (esp. a female). :D I have a notebook full of invention ideas. I love sending cards for no good reason (yes, cards through old-fashioned snail mail). When watching scary movies I have to make sure that all the doors and the shower curtain is open. People who aren't logical drive me nuts. Cheers.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I know that the probability is higher that life exists outside of this planet, than that it doesn't. I love docs on theoretical physics. I am happy to be part of this project. My only suggestion would be to include more information about each of the tasks or projects: a place for the "layman" (or "laywoman") to get a better idea of what exactly is happening. I google a great deal, so that is helpful. But, I would like some good, specific information.
