I've been interested in astronomy from childhood, however my education and career took me into big business and later in to pre-hospital emergency medicine [as a volunteer.] I'm retired now, caring for my husband who has a chronic auto-immune neuro-muscular disease. We travel every chance we get and love the cruise experience. We are grandparents-by-love to 4 wonderful young men and great-grandparents by love to an amazing 5 year old.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I decided to run SETI@home because I do not believe we are alone in the universe. However, I am not certain we will make contact in my lifetime or several more lifetimes because of the vast nature of the cosmos.
What I understand about SETI@home and how it works will fill the head of a stick-pin. I will continue to try to educate myself.
If it does not already exist I would love to see a simple but thorough explanation of SETI@home so that I can better understand and how my participation helps.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
